    E32 for $500??

    A 91 735i came in to the shop I work at the other day, turns out it needs a new tranny.
    the Owner is wanting to sell it and offered it to me for $500, I can get a tranny for $750 and get in put in for close to nothing. The car is pretty nice all around, the motor runs damn good and everything seems to be in real good shape. the car has 266,000 miles.
    I have ABSOLUTELY NO NEED for another car right now, but I think I need to buy it anyway.
    I normaly would have no reservations about buying it, but I currently have 4 "too good of a deal to pass up" cars sitting at my parents house waiting to be registered, and 3 "nice" cars. do I realy need 8 FUCKING CARS!!??

    should I buy this thing? or should I pass?
    It seems like I could part it out and Make my Money back if nothing else.

    (i'd recommend 'cleaning house' - then taking on new prospects)
    (sounds to me like good prospects cross your path often)

      Why bother with another headache? From past experience, if I ever doubt a purchase, it's better not go through with it.

        E32s can be horrible moneypits. The engine and drivetrain are fine (except for hte trannys) but there are soo many moving parts housed in plastic that can crack leaving your car crippled its frightening.

        Where do you work? Maybe I can come by and give you shit since I drive now.
        Im now E30less.

          yeah... do you really need 8 cars??? dude, you already have some "too good of a deal" cars...!" finish those, then take on a new proj.

            Usually if I need to ask the answer is no.

            I'd have a hard time passing this up if I had somewhere to keep it however.

              I'm working up front at Bobs Imports, 6th and mississippi. stop by sometime.

                  Ding-ding-ding!!!! Ryan said it perfect. e32's are money pits. Even ones that are in great shape, and have relatively low miles, are a disaster waiting to happen. How do I know this you say? My parents own two e32 750iL's, one with 315,000 miles on it, and one with 150,000 miles on it. Both within 1 year of production, and you'd never guess it, but the one with over 315k miles on it is the better of the two as far as reliability.

                  They are great cruisers, and are possibly the most comfortable and spacious car to drive/ride in, but once something goes wrong (and it will), you need DEEP pockets to fix it. Irregardless of whether or not you work in a shop. Parts are regoddamndiculous for them.

                  Pass on it, you'll be glad you did.

                    buy it just for the motor, and ecu and part out the rest...sure u could recoupe ya 500.00 bucks doin that but if u have other project cars find someone that wants to turn their e30 into a 335i and point them in the direction of the e32

                      had a 89 "il"...drove nice....but all the lil annoyances were not worth it. the heating controls worked when they wanted to, transmission sucked, rear self leveling shocks never leveled, window controls smoked from time to time. other than that it was a great car.
