I dont own an e30 anymore, but I was just surfing through some websites when I saw this ? I never knew it existed.... what is it for ? Do you have to change it ?
hum....my car is all the way in the parking lot so i'm just going off memory, and i don't remember seeing a filter back there. Maybe it was an option for europe??
I was just about to post a question concerning retrofitting a microfilter on my E30 when I came across this on the search feaure.
Although possible, why would only non-ac cars have this? One would think logically, that with AC, it would also be nice to have filtered air too?
Whatver the case, I'm looking for anyone who had ever custom installed a microfilter on his car. I think that this will be a nice addition to any E30. Especially during the drier summer months, once a week at least, I have to wipe the top of the dash and leather seats with a damp rag, to get rid of the dust. This does not seem to be the case with my TDi that has a microfilter.
Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated!
I highly doubt that anybody here (US) has ever installed a microfilter into the their E30 .
The question of E30 having microfilters has come up several times on other boards and this link is the first time that I've ever seen proof that one ever existed .
But it states right at the top that its for cars without A/C .
Some insisted that E30's had microfilters because the EuroDepot listed them .
Anyway ...I'm sure that the dust you are experiencing is most likely due to the 15+ years of dust that has gathered inside the vents and piping .
Surely all that dust is not coming in through the fresh air intake .

Well, first off, I am kind of a freak as far as how picky I am with certain things. By dust, I mean slight white dust, like if you live in the city, and leave your house windows open all week, and the end result of what you'll find on your black tv set. I think that is how I'm getting my dust. I've yet to recharge my AC, so I drive around with my windows open. In any case, even with the windows closed, slight dust will collect on the dashboard. For some people, this may be unnoticeable, but for me, a microfilter will cure everything. And make me happy.
