Can you get it so he has to pay for the damage, or is it like not enough or something like that?

i definatley gotta say it was interesting driving it home last night with only one wheel able to steer for about 15 miles... thank god it was late and there were no cars... only took like 2hrs to get it home

Well consider now the opportunity to get the wheels you've always wanted. And if not, bottlecaps are super cheap. Sorry to hear what happened.

Good thing they were only caps. Go ahead and get 4 new wheels while you at it. Baskets make a nice little change. Good luck with everything.

I'm not to sure how insurance companies work, but can't you report it as a hit and run?

wow bottlecaps or not that still sucks. I'm surprised the tire held pressure. It looks like the impact could have easily unbeaded the tire. I say get a set of 4 weaves, take something bad and make it better

well at least you avoided being hit by the cab.. I mean, a tie rod and some bottlecaps is peanuts compared to sheet metal and a paint job. good luck with that.

He probably would have been better off being hit by the cab, as long as he wasn't injured. With damage also, the cab would have had to pull over and he'd just be waiting for the cabby's employer's insurance to pay off everything wrong with his car.

If the cab didn't physically contact your car, you'd probabliy have a hard time getting insurance to cover it as a hit-and-run, or getting the cab company to pay it. All the cab driver has to say is, "No I didn't cut him off. He lost control of his car all by himself."

Where you swerving to avoid the cab driver while you hit the brakes? Or did you just hit the brakes? I'm surprised, especially with ABS, that the car would spin out.

About a month ago, I was driving on a country road in my 'Teg. Roads were clear but wind had swept snow across the road in a section where there wasn't a wind break/treeline. I was slowing down for the snow-swept pavement, but an SUV driver up ahead (who was on clear pavement) nailed the brakes at the last minute to make a left turn. I slowed down even more for the SUV ahead (with my car on the snow-swept pavement). The back end started to slide out just before the ABS kicked in. Luckily a little counter-steering + ABS saved the day... but I nearly left a set of racing stripes in my pants.

I guess, but not if you value having a straight accident free car. I'd rather replace $200 in parts out of pocket than have accident damage on my chassis.

car hydroplaned and spun i think... it was a very wet night and pretty cold out... not sure how it happened exactly.. i know i tagged the brakes it got squirelly and the *snap*... and within a second i was sliding down the road sideways and BANG .. curb

thinking about it now.. i probably could have saved it if i just nailed the gas to the floor to get the car to come around a tiny bit more but it happened so fast there was nothing i could do really..
