What to do with this set of Smileys . . .

So I am now in possession of a set of Bosch Smileys with the height adjustment doodad - including all the controls for it - supposed to be fully functional.

Now the question is, what should I do with them?

    I could:

    A. Sell them,

    B. Keep them and hook up the adjustment thing,

    C. Keep them, smoke them, and hook up the adjustment thing.

    or

    D. Keep them, smoke them and fix them so they dont move.

I haven't decided - anyone have any other ideas?

Hehe I have a set too! Probably the 2nd set I've ever heard of that works properly. Does it? I say hook it up for novelty :) I still dont know exactly what I want to do with mine. I have someone at least semi interested in them, I'm leaning towards selling mine. I dont need all that blign gadgetry stuff on my car. Its nothing special, at least yet.

if your not gonna used the adjustability, or dont ever plan on installing the feature, i'd say sell them and just use the money for fixed ones and keep the extra money you make off of them.

or, trade somebody for fixed bosch smiley's + cash. just mo.

        null vote.

i'm the sort of weirdo who would keep them..

        a) because that is one particular item squarely falling into a 'fun-to-have-in-inventory' category.

        b) because maybe - just maybe - it could be incorporated into some sort of future 'dream project' that may be likely to occur on another e30 platform of greater of worth than the one currently being driven/worked upon.

.. although.. smoked adjustables would be pretty phat.

(is ‘phat’ still a useable word ?)

all of the adj. sets here in germany CAN work again.
if the set did work before, and it is now out of the car--IT WILL NOT WORK ANYMORE UNLESS YOU BUY ALL THE NEW HOSES AND CRAP.
              but good luck.
you should keep em and put em in your car.

I am willing to bet that where the hoses connect to the adjuster thing, it was broken off. check closely.

Clean them and put them in a box, carefully sealed, in a closet. Wait 10 years while these cars keep jumping up in value...then unleash them on an unsuspecting world.

Nope - it appears to be all intact. Hoses and everything.

that would be imposible, there is no way to get the adj. mech. through the firewall.
not trying to be neg. nancy though.

Um, yes there is. Give me your argument how they even install them at the factory. They dont fill the systems with fluid after it had already run through the firewall. I know where it runs through too. Have you seen them? I have a complete set from a car too, it works, hoses and all. They do not get removed, and if they are they're junk as theres no way to really bleed them. Anyway, for your information, here's a picture of the grommet and even EXACTLY where the adjusters pass thruogh the firewall. The lines themselves have a grommet to fill the hole back up.

That cutout trace that is fully visible (larger one) is just big enough for the adjusters to push through and like I said, the grommet on the lines will fill it up.

Stock Adjusters suck they go out if you sneeze or look at em wrong. If I
can remember what car it is there is one where you can switch out the
mechanism for you BMW Adj's, more reliable less crap. I'll have to dig
around and find out. Ask AC Nico (if he still posts here?) he knows, we
talked about it when I was planning on em' and decided..... not 2 btw.

Personal vote, Smoke em' Box em' Sell em'
                            Can't go wrong with money.

                              Then sell them :)
