    Headlight replacement lenses.

Does anyone have any experience with headlight replacement lenses? i am about to pick up a set of us ellips that have a cracked passenger side low and was looking for input from somebody with experience with the lense replacement.

i've heard of the mr. lens kit, or a bmwlights.com kit. if anyone has any knowledge of how the install was, if it was worth it, how it looks, etc. it would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks.

    -mike

(oh, btw, please do better than bimmerforums - apparently nobody knew any answers there.:( )

some are acrylic some are glass..the acrylic ones looks nice, but im not sure how well theyll hold up....ive always thought glass was stronger. My friend did get a mr.lens' for his fogs though, been about 6mnths and its still really nice looking....super friggin clean like new fogs.

The install is easy. u can pull ure old glass out (or pick it out like we had too) and clean the area where the lens will lay, then just lay a bead of silicone adhesive sealant in black or grey (obviously with the light out of the car) and put the light in a vice to make sure it seals correctly. Books or so work too. Ive been dying to get new lens' for all my lights cause pitting = less light output.....it looks nicer too...

Has anyone bought replacement Hella euro ellip lenses?

I was told they are available, but have never really seen them advertised anywhere. Anybody got a source?

                New to the headlight thing.

I am working on taking 2 sets of elips and converting into one full set. So far I have discovered this. For pitted glass use Duplicolor clear. It works very well to "fill" the pits. Finish it with Lamin-X. There was a group buy here. I experimented with the fogs first and they look brand new.

Once I get the elips done I will submit pics.

blueapplesoda, those rims ! who, what, where and when????

Any update on this? I was going to start a thread but found this one in a search and thought I would unburry it. I looked for BMWlights.com but it no longer exists. Don't want to go with plastic. Any help would be appreciated. Need new lenses and would like to get some of the little plastic bits as well if possible.

                    Cheers,

                    Brian
