    Overwhelmed

    :roll::crazy:

Anyone ever feel that way about all the things that need to be done to the car - not enough time and money to do it all at once! :D

I made a long list today...not all is "needed", but much of it is "wanted".

I've been dumping money into my e30 drain for years, and I still need to replace everything :P

I feel that way right now. I am taking apart my front suspension again and replacing parts I should have before. I still need to do front wheel bearings, gas tank and diff. The tank will be the most "fun":(

When I look at other e30's and remember how fun it was to drive mine, it makes it all worth while.

Yeah, I've felt that way too. I try to do a couple things every month--I figure after awhile everything will be the way I want it. It's hard, but try not to look at the big picture. Just try to do what you can now and get satisfaction out of that.

That came out a lot more...lame than I thought it would. But it's still true :p

Yes, I feel like that a lot of the time. Unfortunatly, I let it get to me too much. Its bad for the health.

I find myself in this position a lot. I think the main reason is that I don't need the car and I don't drive it. It's so much easier to leave a project half done on jack stands in the garage when you dont have it as a dd.

The flip side is the people that need there cars as a dd, get their projects done quick, they have to if they want to get to work the next morning.

Yeah, mine is not the dd - but I walk by it in the garage on jack stands. Sad part is it runs and drives fine - I am just too anal to keep it on the road when there are items that I need to do.

                  Top the list:

Timing belt/tensioner (will do H2o pump/thermostat at the same time)
Oil Pan (mine was repaired and has a drip when hot)
                  Exhaust
                  Wires
                  Distributor cap & Rotor

                  Wanted items:

Headlights (mine was pitted like a mofo!
                  Valance (mine is toast)
                  Fogs (have none right now)
Paint everything (my paint is good - but hail ruined the smooth look of the body panels)
                  Wheels/tires
                  Windshield (pitted only)
                  5 lug conversion
suspension (Ground Control I hope...my stock is fine - but want to lower it and impove handling)
                  Paint Shadow Line
                  New Brakes
                  Paint Valve Cover and Intake

There are other minor items too....

I am so used to the fact that my car is a pile of projects that I don't even think about the entire underdash being gone, no fenderwells, exhaust leaks, noisy as hell valves, crappy injectors...

I keep the oil fresh, the coolant, brake fluid, etc. all nice and clean, the really iportant sensors in good working order.

Now that my tach has died, I am gonna do the battery swap in my SI board today. I have had a set oif NiCads and a 2 cell battery holder since early '04.

                      Lovin it!

I made a list like that last year for my '68 Camaro, and cried when I saw the total. I realized it'd be cheaper to sell the Camaro in non-running state (still worth a few dollars) and get a track-ready E30 M3. So instead, I bought my 325i whichi is in pretty good shape and won't require too much work to make a decent track car. (Until I realize next year that I need more power, better brakes, better paint job, etc.)

I felt that way last night when i got done fixing my tach/fe gauge + obc and my speedo and radio decided to stop working. Its all good though. i went for quite the spirited drive after i put the fuse in to get the speedo working and unplugged all the wires from my obviously shorted out radio. Today i washed it and i am happy her again.

For me its a constant battle of how much i love to drive this car and how tired i am of spending money on the stupid little stuff instead of the stuff i want (suspension). Im tempted to get mine to an acceptable state and sell it. Then save a little bit and buy a well sorted e30 with a M or S 50 in it.

                            Just my 2c.
