today a brand new land rover "raced" me. it started off with me noticing he was accelerating harder than most people normally do, so being the ass i am i sped up so he couldnt get infront of me.
well, he stayed right there with me till 70 mph.
mind you im running a 4.10 rear diff, intake, exhaust, jim conforti chip.
i never saw the back end of it so i dont know what model it was.

hate to rain on your parade...pulling 2.7 tons, the new landy's not all that fast, and for a car built nearly two decades ago, it shouldn't be a shock, but you guys know this, course I know it better as I have an iX with the j/c chip and supersprint exhaust, which still is a tank compared to basically all E30's and many other things on the road...I wouldn't trade it for the world though. E30's stand for all that which is still is holy in this world.

I worked for a Jag/Land Rover dealer for 2 years, the new ones have some balls for their size. They're nowhere near as slow as the old Disco's/Rangies, and they have quick shifting 6 speed autos. You mighta been up against one of the blown Range Rovers...400hp anyone?

            I still hate em though

one must also remember that in general, cars have MUCH more HP/weight ratio then they did in the 80's.

IIRC the first iteration of the current Range Rover (the one designed by BMW) used the M62 4.4 liter V8, and Ford bought them from BMW for the same $$$ it cost them to build a Mustang.
