Some of the guys at Bullet went to UTI in Arizona. Like Devo said, which is true of just about anything, you get out what you put in. Graduate, get some experience and then open your own business - the world needs more good indy shops.

      Best of luck!

are you gonna be working down there?
The wages are way lower than here in MD but I guess things are alot cheaper.
My cousin got back a little over a year ago. Specialized in Mercedes Benz.
He loved it. He didnt have to work though?
Have fun, try hard and LEARN SOMETHING. Dont think you know it all.

From what i hear its a waste of money if your trying to get a job with bmw and most of the the other german car manufacturers.. You dont need any ASE's to work for them and they do on the job training (what i did). I just got back from bmw school and one of the guys there got a refund from UTI because he got hired on at a dealership. But im not sure what you plan on doing after school, just a little fyi.

From what I've heard, the main problem with UTI graduates is they are all 21-22 yr old kids who think that just because they spent a short amount of time at UTI that they are the shit.

A small ego, willingness to learn, and the ability to pick things up quickly are more important than a paper saying you SHOULD know how to do some basic things.

Not saying that school and being ASE certified is bad, I'm just saying being a good worker is the main thing that an employer wants, certifications can always be gotten later.

Ryan G. had this to tell me when I wanted to go to UTI:

All the dealers hate them because all they put out is cocky kids that really don't know much of anything. I ended up taking autotech classes at my local city college and working for the local dealer, and its looking more promising to become a tech going this route than any other way.

jusy my suggestion... UTI costs around $22k, local city college to get comparable autotech degree is $1,500... your choice... but I would go to a community college if I were you.
Ryan is a now a full BMW tech if that counts as anything :P

I went to UTI and now i work at Saleen building the 550hp 4.6 motors and the 400hp 5.0 motors. Like what everyone else has said, you get what you put in to it. Just remember that there were Shitheads there before who ruined some good jobs for you and other graduates.

I'm not knocking it because i learned a lot. All i can really say is no matter what just be that guy thats always wanting to learn everything. If they ask for volunteers then do it. The teachers will have you do it then they will teach you the shortcuts. I always tried to step up whether i did right or wrong and thats all i can really say to you is to do the same.

There are a few guys on here that have gone to UTI so im sure you'll get more responses.

Be warned though, they're extra crazy down there.

Instead you get to enjoy illegals trying to run into you for insurance money, rednecks in huge pickups, and your shades fogging up when you leave any airconditioned space.

UIT is a waste of money unless you get into one of the specialty schools and get placed. Otherwise youd be better off just being an apprentice.
                          Im now E30less.
