just for shits, what is the most power someone can achieve out of a decently-agressively modded M10? How about that # vs. M42? If im not mistaken, did the M10 come in the 2002's?

I've seen motorsport m10's tuned to over 1200hp. Turbocharged race motors.
The most power you are going to get out of a n/a m10 is still less then a m20 puts out stock.
m42's are already highly tuned from the factory, there isn't much more potential for them.
yes the m10 was used in the 2002's also. (many other bmw's as well)Tenured Automotive Service Professional - Avid BMW Enthusiast

that m10 looks pretty slick.... and i'd love to have it... although i'm not a big fan on how they did the whole engine bay layout... looks cluttered even w/ that little engine in it. could be a lot neater (although i'm sure a pretty engine bay isn't their first concern ;) )-Pete

This 1602 from 1975 does 0-100 km/h in 3.65 seconds (when he's got grip) according to the old G-tech meter. It belongs to a guy I know from my childhood neighbourhood, and I host pics+info of his car on my site. He's got enough power to spin the tires at any gear, never been to a dyno. He uses a T04E turbo, Haltech ECU, MT8.5x26 tires in the back, and the engine runs on regular 98 octane fuel. The exhaust manifold and wastegate system are very advanced and he uses his own method of boost control.
