Today somebody told me my car was the real deal from Germany.

    I said "ya".

I get people all the time asking me if my car is from or was imported from Germany. Of course, I tell them yes, since technically it was, but like most people are going to know the differnce. I'm not about to get into semantics with Joe Blow about the definition of "imported". :D

Yeah, it sounds cooler when you say it was shipped overseas from GERMANY.

I always get people doing a double take or just noticing the plate and then they ask me where my car is from , or they ask where the plates are from .

i was running spain plates allaround (no us) when i was towed when my auto tranny died, the towtruck dude was like "that's gay. You had the car shipped all the way from spain to have it die here. What a shame." I lol'd inside my head until i got into my friends e30 and then i LOL'd way out loud.

Since I'm running front and rear plates on mine:

I was headed to work the other day, and this Porsche Cayenne S in bright red merged into traffic ahead of me, and as I passed in the right lane, I was studying it pretty hard (not everyday you see one of these here), I noticed the hot chick riding shotgun was checking me out as I pulled past them. Traffic ahead slowed me back down, and so as they began to pull past me, she was still looking at me-the car in my lane moved off to the right lane and I surged ahead again, this time, she is leaning out of her window and says, "BOBBY WELLS!" I nearly shit myself in disbelief at this hot ass chick in a Porsche Cayenne S with Alabama plates screaming my name. We are approching the stoplight now, so we slow and match pace to a stop. Turns out it's an old friend of mine who's moved away and gotten married to some older dude (yeah, this coming from a 37yr old guy). So she says, where is your car from, (husband's name) wants to know. I laughed and said it's a BMW and it's from Germany, same as the Porsche there. She says yeah, but what's the tag thing? [Husband] saw your plates and wanted to know where you got the plates. I told her they were indeed German plates and that no, they weren't legal, but I liked 'em so that's why they're on there. She said they liked them too, thought they were pretty cool. We chatted for the remainder of the light, caught up quickly and I was off.

I was coming back from Birmingham recently from a trip to see my brother (and purchase my daughter's 2000 4 runner lmtd) and some guys in a Mustang drove by taking pics of my car w/their cell phones hanging out their windows.

People ask "How did you get those plates on there?" all the time. I tell them, the frame went on with a couple screws, and the plates mount to the frame. lol. Then I have to explain the rest.

My friend was going to give me a German plate for the front of my car but I haven't seen him yet to pick it up. I had taken my front plate off already and now I'm not sure if I want to run the euro plate, as I really like the look of the plate-less front. That said however, New Hampshire is a Nazi society when it comes to front plates so which do you think would attract less attention from the fuzz, and euro plate or none at all?

If your state requires a front plate, and you have no intention of running one(like me), just don't run any plate on the front at all. A euro plate will draw much more attention to your car than no plate.
