    Advantages/disadvantages of a 4 door?

I'm lookin around to pick up an e30. I kind of like the sleeper appeal of the 4 door. I also hear they're a little more rigid for track use. What are some other advantages or disadvantages? Are the 4 doors heavier? I tried to search but didn't come up with much. Also, any major differences b/w early and late trim levels besides bumpers and rear fender?

    thanks, Andy

My 4 door is actually about 40 lbs lighter on my 2 late models. I like the 4 door and 2 doors for their own reasons. On the 4 door, if you are using it for track, you can fit a cage, still easily access the back and use the back to carry extra tires/wheels etc easily. Not the case in the 2 door. Although 2 doors are easier to find replacement body panels for. And 2 doors are easier to get in and out of in my opinion.

man, its an E30, who cares if 2 more doors on your car weighs 10 lbs more.

An e30 is an e30 in my book. It doesn't matter what engine is in it or how many doors it has, any e30=sex.

I like the long doors. They make good armrests when the windows are down.

a properly done 4 door can look just as good and in some cases better than a 2 door. that bronzit 4 door s52 car from wisconsin or chicago (cant remember your name sorry) is a great example

I actually wouldn't mind my enxt E30 to be a 4 door... but 2 door is fine too.

4 door FTW! makes it really easy to toss the track wheels/tires in the back seat. it also helps the sleeper appeal.. ;)

yeah 2 or 4 both look great. The 4 door weighs more but not by much. I would say just get what you find first or nicest.

                      Have both.

The 4 door is nice to throw things out back. You don't have to fink around with folding seats. Personally, though, I'd get a Touring instead. It looks too much like a 5 series.

The 2 door, however, with the bigger doors, is easier to hop in the front. I think it looks better.

It's all up to you really.

I think the 4-door models are safer. The B-pillar can protect the passenger in a side impact. The body is also stiffer on a 4-door.

thanks for the input, guys. There's a few things I like better about the 4 doors (including the look), and since there doesn't seem to be any major drawbacks, I'll be looking for one.
