    Ah ok, 6 degrees.

Good thing we can retard up to 12 degrees with the smt6.

WOW!!! nice!! Todd, what injectors are you using with 15 PSI :?:

and other question when you had to retard the ignition to prevent detonaion, I mean at what boost level you had to retard some degrees or what was the max PSI you ran with out changing the timing :?:

      Thanks

I spoke to my partner again. He set the retard to 1 degree per pound of boost. He said the boost was about 14/15 so let's say 14psi. After returning from the run he turned it back down to 12/13 which is a boost level that we are comfortable with, non intercooled.

We are using 24lb injectors and the BEGI RRFPR.

Todd, 240hp at the wheels or the crank? I dont know much, but for 12ish PSI that sounds a little low... even without IC. Didnt we have a guy on this bored that dynoed 276hp with no internals and i think it might have been less boost then that? I dunno i could be wrong. I was told that i could be in the 250hp range with 6 - 8 PSI, with an IC. And that was coming from someone that already had a turbo in his car. I'm all new to this turbo stuff.... but from what i hear i would have guessed a 12 PSI non IC e30, with no internals to probably dyno at.... 260 - 270ish at the crank. What do you think? I'm just tryin to learn... haha.

in other words, his 240rwhp is like 280 @ the crank.

It's a very impressive beast, i just got back from a nice ride in it. Not even slightest hint of detonation. I might have to keep my spare M20 and get another chassis.

                    Todd,
At what rpm do you see full boost? How much more turbo lag to you expect once the IC in installed. Good working I'm looking forward to seeing the dyno results.

That totally depends on the gear. The boost is immediate. Maybe Greg can share a comment.

The intercooler will be sized for 400hp. It will have sufficient surface area for the charged air and will add no noticable lag. The pressure drop will be less than .5 of 1psi!

I keep telling you guys, NO LAG, but nobody wants to believe me. Ask Greg!

                      Thanks,

..if possible, can you get some video footage from a standing start and in 3rd, 4th and 5th gears from low rpms/low speed up?

Great idea. I'll work on it.

After my ride today I am know looking for another chassis to stick my M20 back into to do one of these kits. My M50 is quick but not this quick.

Turbo Lag is non existent gentleman. We say 90 in third gear and I wanted the driver to slow down as it was a residential neighbor hood. I should have had Mike Chin jump in the back.

He was in the local area picking up his wheels and springs.

Greg just turbo the m50 :) You know getting a turbo m20 is another project and all ha ha..don't want to see it go away like the 'rocco.

Wait, you're saying Mike didn't hang around for a ride in the turbo m20 :?

It was starting to get late and he wanted to get headed back to NJ. If I do this i will be doing it in a cabrio so I can twist the chassis No I still want to contemplate doing one. I still have my engine as it's not sold yet and I figure I can get a early e30 with a toasted cam belt for cheap money.

Who knows I am always bored and never satisfied. The Scirocco lives a new life now anyway.
