    Great, another clean E30 presents itself. Should I buy a 3rd E30?

I currently have a 90 325is Auto and a 92 325i cabrio Auto. One of my cousins who I haven't spoken to in a while comes by my other cousin's shop today with a black 91 318is manual stating he is going to sell it. It has some minor body work needed but everything else is pretty clean (all black interior) I remembering reading a while back someone stating that there is something special about a 91 318is. Something to do with performance? Power?

Anyways, I was planning on converting my 90 325is but am now considering just buying this 91 318is since it is already manual. However, I don't want to rid myself of either the 90 325is nor the 92 325i cabrio. Would I be going E30 overboard in this instance?

Just the thought of whipping a lighter 91 318is manual around makes me want it.

if you can afford it do it, but you might be happier with that conversion on your 325.

you can never have an e30 overload.
Hemingway said it best. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely games.”

the 91 318is are considered the poor mans m3. It is the only year for a 318is and are pretty rare. The motor is more advanced than the m20 but its nothing special and nothing to powerful, a very nice motor non the less. If its a good deal its hard to pass but it doesnt seem like anything you need to have. I say use the money to make your 90 a badass ca

I agree with you. It's tempting, mostly if he gives me a good price. I can either spend around 1K (correct me if I'm wrong) purchasing a used manual tranny and converting my 325is or throw in maybe double that and have this 318is. However you make a good point, for the amount I spend on the 318is, I could get my suspension kit, spacers, and paint my car. Makes more sense.

sell your other 2 and buy that. Interior looks well taken care of. Body looks a bit rough(meaning had some paint work). The 318is is a great car.

If you shop around and work with a budget, $1k is all you need for a tranny swap

They are both plain. I don't plan on doing anything to the cabrio. I want to leave it original. Lowering Susp kit, spacers, wheels and tranny conversion** for sure on my 325is. (**unless I get this manual 318is) Also, plan on painting both.

I would just do the manual conversion on your 325i. the 318is is a nice car, just gutless.

I fail to recognize how that is criteria for not buying another E30.....

Buying another E30 (a rare E30 318 ) that happens to be manual, does not stop me from modding my 90 325is. The cabrio is staying original. The main thing here is opportunity.

I guess I will base my decision on what he asks for. I agree with you all though, I should invest that money into the two E30s I have now. Mainly getting this 325is manual soon. I'll post a sales price on the FS thread once he's ready.
