It's GONE!!... :(

Well.... I had a little overheating issue with my Cabbie, and after some investigation, discovered that the head is cracked, and it's a good possibility the block is also.... this all happened when my GF's mom drove it from KY to NC and it overheated on her... I pulled the dipstick, and VIOLA!! Antifreeze in my oil...


It's a very sad day for me to have to announce this, but my first BMW, which I was lucky enough to run across an E30, and found an awsome community on the boards here, is now gone. I traded it off today, but came out in the good considering the damage to the car. That's right, it's no longer in my possesion, and I no longer own an E30, but I'll deff. hang around, and possibly be shopping for another E30 sometime soon.

Hmm...

I picked up a really nice 2.5 "i" motor from an automatic car for $450.

Should have just kept the car if it was a good shell.

Ouch man... what really blows is that you could have fixed it for less than $500...

My 635CSi had a cracked head... I got a used one for $175 and had it rebuilt for $180 including a mill and valve job.

Well, around here, I was the ONLY person that drove a BMW older than a 2000 model. I could have gotten somthing off the internet I suppose, but parts for an E30 are OUTRAGEOUS around here..


as for what I traded for... Go ahead and flame and call me names and tell me I'm stupid and all that jazz, but I traded for a MINT 1990 Mustang. I grew up drag racing mustangs. The only thing I remember about my childhood was going to the dragstrip and watching my dad run his mustang. I know it may not be "the ultimate driving machine" (which I honestly think the BMW is) It still is a great car, plus I have the parts and know how to make this an eleven second car in a month or so, with minimal moola out of my pocket. (our shop specializes in mustang parts and application)... Little do most people on the board know, I currently own a mustang, and am building it for Pro 5.0 racing, so this one will just be my quick DD.

So i figure a high milage car with shit for paint and in need of a heart transplant for a Mint low milage car that I can get parts a plenty for the cheap was a pretty good trade.... BUT, no matter how fast or nice this mustang winds up, I'll always miss the E30, and yeah, I'll have another one.

Sorry to hear that, but little story: I bought "ol blackie", my first E30 - a 1990 325is, from Eric and fell in love with all things E30. Well after a couple years ownership, I got hit in the rear and the car was totalled. Sad days followed, but eventually led up to me finding my current E30, "the Red Baron", also a 1990 325is. It is in faaaaar better condition than ol blackie ever thought about being in, and I fell head over heels for it as well. It's almost like a second child, where you think, "Is there any way I can love this one as much?", and the answer is, "Yes, yes I can".

So, IF you want another, take advantage of the opportunity and hold out for what you really want in an E30. Just remember, patience will reward you in this situation (it took me about 6-7mos. to find what I wanted and I had to go across the country to pick it up).

Man that sucks. Women drivers... I tell ya. At least you can blame your cracked head on someone else - I cracked mine, in my 318i and it cost me a cool, $2,800 to have fixed. Basically it totalled my baby because I only paid $3,200, but money is no object for your true love. :D

Exactly what happened... I was soooooooo pissed!!! but hey, what can you do??

I plan to take PLENTY of time finding that "Perfect" E30 for my taste. Thank you for the advice.

Yea, lol, all my stang buddies gave me a HARD time about the E30, but before it was all over, they loved it too. I'll def. keep the German love alive, hopefully I'll be cruisin around in another German bred bimmer before long.... thanx a million for the replies guys

yup. and I'm sorry if it was yours or some one you knew, but this thing was ROUGH when I got it. it was lowered with Bav Auto springs, had a cam and a chip, which was all great, but whoever had it did NO maintance on the car. The first time I put it on the lift, I couldn't beleive I drove it home with the shape the CA bushings and ball joints were in, but after some tinkering, and MUCHO MOOLA, it was all well again, which is why its as hard as it is to let it go, cause when you work on a car and improve it, you get attached to it...... oh well:roll:
