Actually, i've decided to go another route, I'm going to sell my side panels/sideskirts/rear skirt/front lip... I'm going to go back to stock as far as styling goes.

I'm going to get a turbo system for it. And then get it painted...

Yea - it's a bit different when you have a 3.5 L M30 under the hood! Like I said - the smog guy cralled all over my car - But M3 Ryan and I did such a clean install - he didn't find one single fault(the electric fan made him wonder - but it was warm out, and I think he just thought it was on for overheating)

I did have a full take of 91, oil change(mobile 1 syn) and ran two cans of "sea foam" into the motor a couple of days before - that stuff really works.

Other than that - to the untrained eye - a m30 looks a lot like a m20(just 8 inches longer!)

Yes - $50 later - Pass visual, passes the sniffer....I rolled out of there with a smile on my face....

          God I love my m30...

Congrats on the pass! I once was unable to get my old Camaro to pass smog because of a mistake in the reference book that they used had the ingition timing printed wrong. It passed the sniffer with flying colors, but since it had been in an accident and no longer had the little smog infor sticker that had timing info on it they went to their book that wanted an extra 7* advance. Given that a perfectly stock car gave them trouble, your engine-swapped one passing is damned near a miracle!

What? You don't know of "sea foam"?

use the search - and the when you are ready to buy go to http://www.seafoamsales.com/

awesome stuff - I suck it into the motor thru the vacume line. Be warned - it makes your motor smoke like it's on fire. TCleans out all carbon in the motor - I HATE "chemicals" to fix a car prolbem - but I swear by this stuff...

question - are there places that smog your car just to see if it passes?

like, a practice test? cause I'm not sure if my car will pass smog and I don't want to take it straight to a smog center

Yea - it's call a "pre-test" or something - it a test that the results don't get sent to the DMV. If you rool up in a car that is smoking, your smog guy will reccomed a pre-test to see how far away from the measured and the allowed you are.

But if you have a turbo - you need to find a "friend" - I took mine m30 to a random shop - but turbo guys need to have a hook up - I understand the advarage "tip" for that is around $500 bucks.
