225/45-16 is a big tire guys. Some of you assume it will fit, but I seriously doubt it. Perhaps you are talking about a stock car, but the car in discussion is pretty damn low and once again the 225/45 is HUGE. I'm just sick of people saying it will fit when I have yet to see someone run it.

I'm interested to see how the SSR's look on a red car  (was that too obvious?)

Jarvis runs 225/45-16s on his 16 x7.5 Borbets. His car is lowered on H&R Sports.

I also run 225s, but on 15x7 rims. I had no rubbing with my sagging eibachs, and I dont expect any with my new ground control setup.

Its all about having the right offset, which happens to be within a few mm of 25mm.

And both 225/45-16 and 225/50-15 are almost perfectly sized when you calculate out their overall diameters.

      EDIT:
Here's a pic of Will's (Ydubbs4) old car with SSRs:

I'm not talking about overall diameter, I'm talking about the width, and with a lowered car (one as low as mine for instance, H&R Sports aren't that low) there is no way they'd fit without body modifications. I've also run 225's on a 15" rim and had only minor rubbing on the front strut. Anyways...

I realize that your talking about width. I'm not trying to shut you down, I'm just letting you know that I run 225s on my 89' 325is with ground control coilovers. My rears are tucked by about 3/4" and the top of my fronts are about perfectly even with the fender.

If anything, all that he would need to do, as long as he had between et22 and et26 offset, is roll the fenders a little bit.

225s WILL FIT. Lots of us have them.

I'm sure you know a lot about all this stuff, being a racer and all, but I just want to set the record straight.

Are you running 225's on a 16" rim? If so could you show me a pic, because I'm about to buy new track tires and I want to know exactly how big they are. I know TJ had 225/50-16 (the size of r-compound I'd be running) on his t-star replicas and they were HUGE. Thanks,

I also run 225s, but on 15x7 rims.
My tires are 225/50-15, but there should be very little size difference between those and the correct 16" size, which is 225/45-16.

225/50-16s are oversized by about an inch, thats why they looked huge, and they would probably have serious clearance problems on a lowered car.

Unfortunately, I don't have any close up pictures of my 225s on my car. I would take a picture right now, but I have my winter wheels and tires on. I'll probably be switching over to the summers in a week or so, though.

I thought TJ ran 205's on the tstars.

Here is 225/50-16. It's E36 sized, and an inch over sized for E30's. I have never heard much trouble of people running 225/45-16 on E30's, but I chose 205/50-16 (which is .1" oversized) for that little extra clearance.

The tire was basically touching the fender, even at a stop. The rims are about ET20.

Ted, I have 225/45-16 Dunlop SP9000's on my 16x7.5" ET25 RD wheels. No rubbing at all and with the Eibach Pro Kit which is a tad lower.
