Picked up and Installed my JimC Chip

I picked up and installed my JimC chip last night. I traded for some seats and a steering wheel, thanks Jesus (chester6969). I ran into no problems during the install and the results are real nice. At first the idle was a bit rough but then i drove it around for 10 min and it was back to a normal idle.

I can feel a nice power gain above 3k rpms. So far so good, it seems to be working out nicely. I ran my friends E36 M3 who i always do little sprints with and he said he saw a HUGE gain in speed. I can't feel it so much, but i can see it. Although i didn't beat him, it was alot easier to keep up :D. Feel free to ask questions or add comments.

As soon as my car gets an engine back in it, I'll drive down there and run you. I want to know if that chip really makes that big of a difference.

Yeah, JC is an awesome upgrade!

btw, what is your Premium Price per gallon? :P worth the performance?
$1.99 here instead of $1.79 for regular.....

Not how much you put into each mile, but how much you get out! :D
        p.s. ~16mpg.......

Its not if its worth the performance if you are running a JC chip, its the necessity. Unless you run 91 octane with your JC chip, it would just bog and not run smoothly.

Premium per gallon is around $2.30. I usually always run premium because i'm a dork, so nothint will change in that department. I've been doing alot of freeway driving lately so i get anywhere from 20 to 27 mpg.

The chips are actually designed to run on no less than 91 octane. The documentation that comes with them should say so.

For me so far the chip seems like the most powerful single mod you can do... within reason.

                Great to know it works!
You can feel the car pickup smoother cant you?
I use shell 91 octane which is $2.33 right now. Its good to finally put a face to the car.
Did you hear my whiny car?

That's not what I meant. Oops. I meant is the JC Chip price + extra cost of premium worth the performance? If there is a gas crisis, I'll put my stockie back in quick.

I concur on the observations made after installing the JC chip. For about a month or so I was running a JC chip in my car that a friend let me borrow. On Monday night I swapped back in my stock chip and boy do I regret it. The throttle response isn't as good and the punch felt from 3000-5000 is gone. Keep in mind I have a lightened flywheel and a 4.10 diff already installed.

Now that I have had the chance to thoroughly try out a JC chip, I want one. And despite gas prices edging up ($2.25 for Unocal 91), I will still get the chip and reserve any negative comments about gas prices when filling up. Its worth every penny.

I'd say the cost is worth the gains you get out of it. I've been driving it around all day today and am still amazed that a chip could do all that. If you guys have some extra money around and are looking for a easy mod that will make you smile get the JimC.

for the m42 I head it drops a second to two seconds off, I don't recall the performance gains on my 318is, I also put a 326is clutch on the 318is, quick little mofo
