Track is back! I run track in the summer (1500m, 3000m, 5000m) and road/cross-country in the winter. Our summer has just ended (in Aus) so now the hard work begins. Our schooling system is a lot different: we dont have college (no NCAA equivalent), we have universities but sports arent all that popular at uni and its no big deal to play/compete for your uni team. Soccer is big here, as is cricket and 'Aussie rules football'. It might surprise you guys (US crew) but theres a few (NFL style) football teams and baseball teams in Aus, although ice-hockey is almost non-existent (due to our climate). As for Lacrosse, its mostly only played in private-schools, although rugby (league/union) is pretty popular.

Running isnt a sport, can you play XC or running? No.

          I bombed Korea every night.

            You've obviously never raced.
Probably the most exhilarating thing that I've ever done was run in the 4x100 meter relay in the state finals on Hayward Field (at the University of Oregon - needs no explanation for true track & field enthusiasts).

man i ran track for one year, and hated every minute of it. im not saying its not a sport because its defintally difficult and very compeditive. but it was way to damn much running for me. although i do play lax, which involves alot of running... its not just running, your running after a ball ;)

                you sir are an idiot
I ran track for 4 years. My events were the 1600, 800 and 400 and I did cross country for 3, its very competitive and its as much a mental thing as it is physical
No real accomplishments for either sport my XC team placed second in state a few years ago, which was pretty cool, was when I lived in NC, we had a really small team so everyone got to go to state meet, I'm not the fastest at anything I do, but I"m not slow, XC= 18:30 for the 5k, 1600 = 5:15, 800 = 2:15, and 400 = :55

Werksmini: can you play cycling or swimming? Not as such, but you can compete. Your comment was typical of someone who plays absolutely NOTHING and cant take the heat of competition in any sport. Go tell it to the 40,000 competitors in the NY Marathon, or the millions of TV viewers watching the 100m Olympic final!

Running is the original sport. If you say that running isn't a sport you're saying that racing isn't a sport and that makes the term motorsport an oxymoron

track owns bitches. so does XC. I went to state this yr for Ohio. My pr is 16:26, and in track im a 53 sec 400, 2:00 800m, and 4:35 miler. If you can break 4:50, you can have the authority to call track "not a sport". LOL, our slogans this year were the same as above, only 3 of us got shirts personally made. We know it wouldnt have flown with the AD. "If yuo cant beat us on the track, beat us off" another one we came up with was, "if your going to beat us, you better be 15 inches ahead"
