    How unlucky am I

I swear if it isn't one thing it's another. Today i'm cruisin' down the highway about 70 and start to hear an airleak from the sunroof, a split second later the whole fucking panel flys out of the car and is bouncing on the ground behind me.

I pull over find the panel and the remains of the sunroof track off the side of the road. Peices of the track are hanging from it and the panel is completely fucked. I have a parts car so getting the peices I need shouldn't be a problem(if I can get the thing open), but I have no clue what is involved with repairing this. I'm thinking about just having a buddy of mine tack weld the new panel all the way around and just be done with the thing.

    Done venting.

Anyone have a problem with their sunroof on the interstate? Mine closes and works fine, but I get some wind sound like it's not sealing properly...but only when I close it at high speeds.

Looks like it's time to order one of the CF sunroof panels. ;)

            Sucks that happened though.

Mine won't close all the way at speeds above ~50mph. It needs to be lubed up anyways, but I've ALWAYS had this problem. The front wind deflector thing won't tuck in to allow the panel to lower all the way at highway speed.

                Yea I had a problem. I guess it's been aleviated  .

So anybody know of a way to get the roof out without power? I actually have lost the key to the car, but I can probly get power to it. Is there a way to turn the car on without a key.

I confirmed that the parts sunroof and interior panel are in MINT condition, so all i need is to get it and i'm golden.

pop open the plastic piece inbetween the check panel and the sunroof. Its a rectangular piece. Use the hex key in the trunk tool kit or any hex key ( or is it allen ) to manually operate the roof.

What year did they start having the wind deflector? My '84 doesn't have one. I have to crack a window if I'm going over 25 or else it sounds like I'm under a helicopter.

that's some shitty luck.......you're lucky it didn't hit anyone's car though. LOL LOL  that just reminded me of Amirani. (don't kill me if you read this, haha) But one time after he was done working on his car he forgot to hook up his hood properly and he lost it going about 50mph down the street

Ken - I mean the little black lip that flattens as the sunroof panel closes over it, and pops up at like a 45-degree angle as it's opening. I have no idea what it's called, hence my less than technical "front wind deflector thing" term.

The wind deflector you're thinking of didn't come stock on any E30's if I understand correctly. I'm pretty sure that had to be added by the owner, possibly something to buy at the dealership when the car was purchased or something?
