Also, Alex, the difference between cast and forged pistons is not one of thermal capacity (assuming same alloy) rather a structural one. Cast pistons have a crystaline structure while forging produces a "graining" of the metal... similar to wood grain and adds strength. Sometimes what people refer to as melting of a piston is more of an errosion of the metal..... neither one is really good ;o)

Here they are. It's ugly but not bad for the first time out. The engine falls flat on it's face from 4500-5000rpm.
MMM, the same problem is happening in my case...I just don't feel good in those <RPM range the engine when I'm at full TB but if I'm at 3/4 of pedal the engine runs better...

That would be detonation, turn down the boost, or turn back the ignition if you don't want to toast another motor.

I will retard just one grade for security, but I'm not hearing ping or knock noise... I just turned up the Boost to 10 PSI for some runs...WOW!!! this engine has a lot of potential runing 10 PSI only....I will drop soon my 26.5LB/H injectors, from my current 21LB/h...

What are you running for fuel turbo owners?

I am installing my turbo next weekend.

              I'm running about 9-10 psi with a 255lph warboro pump and 24lb injectors with a 6:1 rrfpr.

By my calculations at 9 psi, this is the maximum boost that I can run with my fuel setup and this is the best fuel disk to use.

              Fuel Pressure Required 80 psi
              Fuel Flow Required 39 gph 149.66 l/h
              FPR Ratio Needed 5 :1 *using 6:1*

So what are you doing to run 12psi? What FMU ratio, pump, and which injectors?

What is your base fuel pressure? ECU?

I'd love to run 12-15psi but I think I need much larger injectors, a huge pump, and a piggy back fuel computer.

              Thoughts? Power needs fuel.

These little guys decided to pop out of the mail today

                4 pintals baby

Im runing a Federal Mogul fuel pump, it flows more than the msd fuel pump. I'll be ditching the mustang injectors and replacing them with the above, acompanied with a 12:1 Paxton FMU.

12:1 ? How can you use that?

                        What pump are you using?

                        At 12psi that is 342psi

                        There is no way man.

                        Shouldn't you have something like a 6:1?

fuel pumps generally deliver LESS fuel the higher the fuel pressure is. running too high of a fuel pressure would make a bad mixture

                          No, 12:1 @ 12psi of boost = 144psi of fuel

Friend of mine used my FMU on his turboed M42 @ 15 psi without problems

My bad, but at 144psi of fuel there is no way you are pushing 50gph.. which is required for 300hp.

                            right?

                              I have:

                              Megasquirt fuel management
                              Ireland Engineering AFPR
                              32lb/hr injectors
                              255l/hr Walbro pump

I'm going to look at the fuel pressure guage while driving, to see what ratio it is.

We have determined that the two dips in the graph are due to two ignition misses that I heard at the dyno and can feel inside the car while driving. I ordered a new ignition cap, rotor and 8mm wires yesterday. If this solves the problem we'll dyno the car again next week and take it to the drapstrip next weekend.
