All E30 m20b25's had Motronic, even in Europe. If you have an L-Jetronic it's propably a m20b23. Also, in a genuine b25 it says 2.5 or 25 on the exhaust side of the block, just above the serial number.

that motor is definately not a 2.5. Like said before it is a 2.3 or old 2.0. All 2.5, and 2.7 motors dont have a distributor like that one. (notice no spark plug cables to the front of the motor) As far as the battery goes, all euro models have the battery in the front except for the 2.5 liter models, and all tourings have them in the front. Is that car a right hand drive model? I have a r/hand drive car in my yard and it has that same resivour(spelling) next to the batt. too. anyway it looks like a nice project. good luck.

Guys, this is simple , we have manys BMW here, most of them are German specs, came many US specs too(used units from US)....all the M20s that has distributor in the block are or 2.0L , 2.3L or the 2.7L but no way it can be the 2.5L "is" or "i", the b20 , b23 and b27 has the coil and distributor in the pilot side....trust me , I bet it! for me, is a 323i or has the ECu of a 323i with the eta bolck perhaps

Haven't got pics yet but I thought I would mention this. I heard that the 320 engine didn't have 2 pipes coming from the exhaust manifold!! Well how come mine does?? :?
