Any chance that you could find that car? Was the fit & finish even worth tracking it down?
I posted in the thread 'CF anyone' going in group buy parts subforum, maybe whoever is interested should too. Maybe that would generate enough interest to make this happen.
So nobody seems to know of a set already being marketed? That seems odd, you would think you could buy dang near anything in CF these days.

well, boeing is buying up as much cf as they can get their hands on atm....so cf may be somewhat scarce for small businesses to buy and make specialty stuff like thisMy 2.9L Build!

I'm guessing that guy Vlad may know? In the pics of his M3 it looked like the window trim/Shadowline? was made of carbon fiber and something tells me those aren't stickers from e-bay. If he had this done I'm guessing he may have a lead on how to get some kidneys. True story, I once saw a picture of an e30 tub and a 911 tub made completely out of carbon fiber. the whole thing weighed like 50 lbs or something crazy like that. Don't know where that pic is but it's out there somewhere on the net.Comment

My friend Mike works for a company that does carbon fiber stuff... He's been talking about making some CF parts for his 98' VW GTI vr6 big turbo. I told him I may want some parts for my car also... I figured I'd ask about kidneys, euro plate tub, and maybe some small interior parts.

Well, so far I'm getting the idea that they aren't a readily available item, so I've put out a few emails and PM's to get an idea if it's possible to get some made. I really doubt there's a chance that they will attach with the OEM little step-clip thing, I expect them to be a glue-in item.
Anyhow, I'm persuing this, and I'll let ya'll know what I come up with.

it really wouldn't be hard to do. if you've ever worked with cf before, you can do it in about an hour. you just need to make a mold of the kidneys, lay in the sheets, and you're set. then there's the vaccum formed style, but that's big baller status when it comes to making cf pieces.

Screw carbon. How about this stuff:
Fibre Glast is a leading supplier of first quality fiberglass, carbon fiber, kevlar and composite materials. Offering the very best in fiberglass and composite materials for your next areospace, civil engineering, military or motorsports project.
Same look, less price. And for non structural pieces, strength isn't an issue.Comment

You might be on to something Andrew - I might just look into buying some of that to do some little stuff in the car, kidneys included. The price is 1/2 of what I'm seeing for sheet CF fabric. I might see what a small vacuum forming machine runs too.
