What should I do with these?

I am going to put those e21 recaros in my m3 and I don't know what I should do with my stock seats.

The passenger and rear seat are fine, but the driver one is pretty beat

I was thinking I could sell them as is, take the money and run, but I don't know what they would go for, what is your guys' opinion on the value? I was also debating to get them reupholstered and sell them and maybe make a little more money, but I don't know how much value it would add, what do you think a mint set of seats in black cloth would sell for? It would cost me about $500 to get the fronts done in cloth.

I am open to offers too if anyone wants them, sorry for the horrible pics though, my car is in storage and is about a 30 min trip for me to go and snap some fresh pics.

Just sell them if you can. You are probably going to lose money on them if you pay to have them recovered.

Just to clearify. These are out of an M3 not a vert right? If so do you have more pictures of the passenger seat? Are they heated?

          Thanks

keep em, they are going to be worth more and more, and one day, you will probably want to make your car stockish again.

This Man speaks the truth. What people don't realize is that these cars will be worth way more stock one day. Parts will get scarce and will rocket in price. 15 years from know you'll wish you bought a beater M3. Keep the seats, mods are ok, originality is everything. Don't butcher your car.

If you want to part the rear seat from the fronts, I'll take it. I have a black one, but I need a seat to give to the upholstry shop to take apart to stitch up my Sport Evo rear seat. I'd rather kill an off-color seat than a decent black one.

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

I hear that and there's no damage there, I believe at this point that is the right thing to do. No offense but S50's are a dime a dozen, S14's are not. You can give me a hard time but in 15 twenty years a mint M3 will be very collectible. I would swap the s5o in but mainly so I wouldn't trash the matching S14 that came with the car. I have no problem with modding cars but if your halfway smart and your car has collectible value you wont butcher it past the point to where it can easily be restored to original. You'll also be smart enough to keep the parts that can't be replaced easily. I love the M3 powerband but for now I'd preserve the motor in the corner of my living room while I beat the piss out of a replaceable S54.

While I agree to an extent that S14s should remain, I'd put an S50 in an E30 M3 if the situation warranted it. I always think its funny that people complain about S50 swapped M3s but they don't complain about the countless number of tracked M3's out there, many of which get wrecked/totalled each year. If you follow the logic of "everything should be preserved to maintain its value" we'd have nothing left but a few thousand M3's sitting inside bubbles.

Thanks about the E30, I sold it a while ago though.

Not sure if you read my post. I agree with you. Put the S50/52/54 whatever in it and drive like a loon while your matching number s14 sits in the corner waiting for the day that it gets put back in to a now collectible M3. Also I guess cars being destroyed helps the value but I'd rather it was some other schmucks car that gets killed while mine is still restorable. Not saying don't beat the crap out of it, just saying don't beat it so much that it can't be fixed somewhat easily.

Do you have the list of your mods somewhere? Truly, I always thought your car looked awesome, Maybe my favorite? Maybe it's your photography? If your into Photography you should check my buddy out at www.sakulsky.com Laters

Wow, I've been away and didn't notice how many replies I got.

Anyways, I kinda gave up on holding on to the OE stuff, I never wanted to sell my s14 after the accident but it was either hold on to that (which I was hoping would go up in value over the years) and have a non-running m3 for a long time, or sell it so I could finish up the m3.

I really don't feel like starting another huge s52 swap debate about the e30 m3. In short, my s14 was destroyed and you all know how expensive they are to rebuild, I couldn't afford to do it, and I highly doubt anyone would ditch an e30 m3 they had just because they can't get the "correct" engine in it, the only way this car is leaving my possession is if its wrapped around a tree at 80 some mph, and I better die in the crash. I do try not to do anything that is not reversible, like Fanzotti said, if need be I can easily put this car back to stock assuming funds allow it. FWIW I was highly against putting a s52 in from the beginning, but for me the s52 is just a better engine to have.... for now..

With that out of the way....

Yes, they are e30 m3 seats, not verts. No they are not heated. I will try to dig up some more pics tomorrow, I have a lot on my server at work. The passenger seat is just fine though, the driver one is the problem child, needs to be reupholstered.

Yes, I was planning on selling the fronts and rears separate, the rears are fine, no tears or anything.

Just keep em man. Youd get a couple hundred in their conditon then youd have to deal with the hassle of shipping them.
