I got mine for $200 with everything, older ThinkPad off ebay. Works great, needs a little more power though.

Logic would dictate that your mom would've bought you a computer while you were IN school (where it would be most useful)....not afterwards :!:

First you need to ask yourself what are your specific computing needs. Is having the portability of a laptop that important to you? Do you travel a lot and need a computer while on the go? Seeing that you're graduating, I suspect you won't be needing a computer as much since your homework days are just about behind you.....unless of course you plan to persue a higher level education.

If the days of academia are coming to a close for good, then I would say get yourself a desktop computer. There's no point in having a laptop unless you really need to tote the sucker with you on most of your travels. Going with a desktop system will allow you to get a much more powerful machine. $1500 will get you a smokin' desktop system while the same amount will get you a decent laptop......but with less features and not as powerful.

And for what its worth, I have a Toshiba Satellite M30 laptop with Intel Centrino processor. Its great for what it does plus being a part time student its great to be able to take it to class.

So think it over and decide what will best suit you. And that is my

I'm a mac consultant, and have used Apples my entire life, so you know where my vote lays.

However, if you do want a Powerbook, wait until the fall, when the Powerbook G5's come out. They'll be screaming.

I'm biased towards Apple's Laptops. They are badass. Never used a PC laptop, though.

Im graduating high school and going on to a college, Embry-Riddle, so i would be bringing it to classes with me and i think that it would be more convienent thats why i dont really want a desktop also.

Too bad apples can't support AutoCad, so I don't think I will get one for college, even though I really want one.

Apple = n00b. :) Sure, they've got a lot of A/V capabilities, but they still strike me as a computer for the "first-timer."

IBM PCs are where it's at. Just trust me :)

And like said above, I'd look at Alienware, they have some incredible laptops. I build systems on the side and use their desktops as a benchmark for the performance of mine.
