I think you should do the right thing(what the E30 gods are yelling to you) and not be a traitor. you need to start looking for another E30 M3. I know one day someone will offer the right price for mine, and I will sell it to, just to go out and look for another E30 M3 to buy!! do what your heart is telling you and go get another E30 M3!!!!!! all E30 M3s need to look like the one you sold, they are crying for your help. and by the way I have a E46, and I dont like driving it, gave it to my wife. the E30 is cult!

problem with that is Shahe didn't really like that car... at least thats what he always told me, that he wasn't a die-hard E30 guy or even a BMW guy... have your feelings changed Shahe?

I hadn't seen the new E46s before now, and I definately don't like them. The 330Ci was the one of the few new BMWs I liked. Now it looks Bangle-ized.

The M coupe weighs less and has an E30 rear suspension design

The M3 weighs more but has a more advanced multi link rear suspension.

Other then that and the appearance (I prefer the E36 M3), there really is not much difference in performance or critical components.

Matter of fact, I'd argue that an E36 M3 can be made just as trackworthly as a M coupe with the same ammount of money invested.

eric, never compare an m coupe to a low life e36. the m coupe is god :). plus i wouldnt buy one with anything but a s54. yes, e36's can be made into fast track cars, but why make something when you can start out leaps and bounds ahead of it.

Whats up with the M Coupe Shahe? IMO, its the best drivers car BMW built in recent time. The car, in stock form has very high limits and commands respect. Of course that is my biased opinion as I owned one for a while. :D

E46 M3 - Nice car, wouldnt want to own one. Too many electronics and too heavy in stock form.

Mcoupe and S54, nice combo, rare, less than 500 s54s M coupes built for the US market. I would forgo the S54 and stay with the tried and true s52. Of the 12-14k Z3 Coupes built, only some 9000 M coupes were built. The US got 6000 of the 9k. The value of the M coupe will only go up in the future, so get one now, while the prices are bottoming out. The s54 powered car only has an edge at higher speeds. Few s54 M Coupes have had motor failures.

As far as tracking an M Coupe vs. e36M3 - Nigt and day. It is less expensive to set up an M Coupe for the track than an M3. All the car needs is decent shocks. While the M coupe neesds attention and skill to drive fast on the track, the M3 by comparison is a limosine. Easy to drive at all speeds. In stock form, the The M coupe understeers much less than an M3. The Coupe is also much more respnsive than the M3 due to slightly lower weight (200 lbs) and shorter wheelbase. While the M3 sounds nice on the track, the M coupe is awesome. The coupe has provided me with some of the best in car auditory music ever.

The coupes older e30 derived susension coupled with a short wheelbase make it very easy to throttle steer, heck it makes it addictive. The e30 subframe is also much more robust then the e36 trailing arm mounts. On heavily tracked cars there have been reprts of the arm mounts ripping out of the chassis.

Heck the M coupe rocked. I certainly miss mine, but heck I love my new daughter more.

At any rate, sorry to the see the e30 go. You had a wicked track car.
