    How Legal Is Your Car?

i was just wondering how many people are driving around with their car being illegal. i drove mine for about 3 months with no inspection stickers on it. finally got pulled over so then i had to get it inspected. so lets hear what you guys are doing illegaly whether it be no inspection, no insurance, no liscense, etc.

I have a missing high beam...which I had ghetto rig back in for my inspection to pass and then just took it back out. I also don't have a cat...but no one really checks that.

i drove my e30 200 miles without insurance. my jeep has an OBD1 cat with an oxygen sensor bung welded in, i'm obeying the color of the law...but not exactly THE LAW with that one.

edit, and tinted windows, and modified exhaust.

Gee, I had a $900 ticket with solely equipment violations 2 years back. I have since changed my ways, some. :) You guys know that anyone with euro ellips is in violation right? Also anyone with HIDs? I doubt anyone will be cited, but still illegal. Now I only run:
              No front plate
              Smoked tails
              20%/35% tints
              Red lights on front
Tinted license plate. (No covers allowed in OR. Its even more illegal now, just not as obvious)
I always maintain insurance. If you dont have it, I will kick you in the face.

I am 100% legal now but in years past I have driven without auto insurance for months at a time. And I had occasionally fractured a few laws here and there like:

                No front license plate
                expired license plates
                No side markers
                no license plate light
                one headlight out
                no driver's side seatbelt
                racing slicks in the rain
                metal to metal brakes

Which I am not sure if its really an infraction if you get caught or you have to actually get into an accident to get nailed for having faulty brakes.

I'm legit except for no front plate. I got the bracket and the plate, just missing the bolts to attach the plate to the bracket, and have been too lazy to buy them.

i drove a POS blazer for like 5 months with no insurance, i even got pulled over like 3 times but just showed my old insurance card and they let me go. ill never drive without insurance again though, it was just way to risky. also, drove my e30 on back roads with no plate, no insurance, and no inspection a few times while it was still being built.

Yeah.. paying for insurance is cheaper than the fine that they slap you with for not having coverage. And I happen to be with Geico who actively NOTIFIES the motor vehicle bureau any time my coverage lapses. Other companies that I have had in the past never said anything and I only got caught if the motor vehicle bureau decided to do a random check.

The last time I got busted, I ended up havnig to pay a $1300 fine. I could have paid my premium for 2 years for that kind of money!

I took the plates off my roommates red 318is and put them on my red, untitled, unispected, untaxed 318is and drove it.

I drove for over 1 year with the plates from my wrecked euro car on my 318.. Just recently changed them. I kept on paying the old insurance like nothing ever happened. No one ever questioned it, including a OHP officer and a CHP officer that pulled me over on my way to bimmerfest 06. ALso had a front euro plate.. Never been warned about it. My exhuast was also over the legal limit.. aswell as few other small bits. Like euro bumpers with no side markers, and now euro ellips.

Currently running semi legal with a trip permit and insurance. Gonna register the car at the beach house to avoid emmisions.

                              I think I win.

Best part, I have recieved exactly 0 tickets. :firehop:
