    F1 @ Bahrain....worth watching?

The F1 circus is preparing for another showdown......this time in the midst of a pile of sand. Will someone tell me who thought it would be a brilliant idea to park a race track in the middle of a freakin' desert? The drivers are worried about blowing sand on the track and the engineers are worried about air filtration systems being clogged with sand...or worse...the engines inducing sand. That makes for a lovely combo. This race should be nothing but boring for the viewers and devastating for the teams.

And if that doesn't paint a gloomy picture for ya, consider this. Due to the Muslim culture of this country, the race officials at the Bahrain International Circuit have put a ban on F1 pit babes for this weekend. Imagine that....no barely dressed women at an F1 event! And lastly, there is no champaigne celebration on the podium. Instead, some kind non-alcoholic spirit will be used instead. Yep, this weekends' race looks to be a snoozer.

    I disagree.

Racing is racing - and who doesn't love to see a couple good spins/wrecks/crashes/explosions  ?!

The sand will make it like WRC w/ F1 cars ;)

I used to live in the Middle East, for 6 years, when I was growing up - been to Bahrain at least 5 times - I loved living in the region, it's actually a wonderful place.

    So don't hate 8)

They're applying a glue to the surrounding sand dunes around the track to pretty much minimize the flying sand. As for the event and the "pit babes", Malayasia doesn't allow the scantily clad women either, so this race will be no different.

And you call all the other races fun to watch?

I think this race will be a good one to watch because of the introduction of some obstacles.
