So, I don't have a reset too for my bmws (anyone have one to sell?) so i took my 90 325i to a firestone because they actually have the correct tool. When i came back to pick it up, they said they wouldnt change my oil because there was a rubber gasket on the drain plug - and that they recommended that i get a new oil pan because the threads are bad. So i asked, "How did you look at the threads without changing the oil?" and they responded that they didnt. how the fuck can they expect me to want to hand over 600 bucks to change my oil pan when they havent even seen the threads? I figure ill buy a new drain plug and gasket and if need be ill teflon take it on the end - if there even is a problem. My guess is that they lost the gasket and threw that on there. I have reciepts for oil changes back for months and apparently there hasnt been a problem.

This is tricky to do because you dont want to put metal shavings into the pan, because you cant really get them out without dropping the pan. I dont trust the filtration system to get all that stuff out. Putting grease on the tap can "catch" most of the shavings.
I bought a pan here on r3v from some dbag who sent me one with buggered threads. You can buy a kit that has two pieces, one taps itself into the pan and is threaded and a drain plug that threads into that piece. It worked okay, but it drips.--Will
