Hey guys i just bought another e30. its a 89 325i. just wanted to know what kind of motor oil you guys use. When i bought my eta my mechanic told me to use 15-40 pens oil (non synthetic) and it has been working great for me.

Most people run 15-50 synthetic (much better than mineral oil shit). I really think its a bit heavy in winter, makes the car start harder in the morning when its 20 or less, but i just deal with it. In summer its good as gold. Castrol makes a 5w-50 that people seem to like.--WillComment

mobile 1 10w-30. I tried some 20-50 once and it was waaaay too heavy - big loss in power, car hated starting up when cold (and I mean 50 degrees cold, not 20). will probably mix in 2 quarts of mobile 1 15w-50 during the summer though.Comment
