    motor oil

Hey guys i just bought another e30. its a 89 325i. just wanted to know what kind of motor oil you guys use. When i bought my eta my mechanic told me to use 15-40 pens oil (non synthetic) and it has been working great for me.

Mobil 1 full synthetic 10W30 in the M20 powered e30 and the 750iL
No, it doesn't leak or use any oil.

20-50 dino oil or Royal Purple. 15-50 synthetic Mobil1. depends on my mood. the royal purple was really nice in the beginning, but after about 2k miles it looks like crap...

Most people run 15-50 synthetic (much better than mineral oil shit). I really think its a bit heavy in winter, makes the car start harder in the morning when its 20 or less, but i just deal with it. In summer its good as gold. Castrol makes a 5w-50 that people seem to like.

mobile 1 10w-30. I tried some 20-50 once and it was waaaay too heavy - big loss in power, car hated starting up when cold (and I mean 50 degrees cold, not 20). will probably mix in 2 quarts of mobile 1 15w-50 during the summer though.

My M30 powered cars love 20w50. Anything lighter just doesn't feel "right" to me...
