you know, you don't have to cut off the entire front end of the E30 just to fix the front end damage you have. a new core support and a few hours on a frame machine could fix it easily. cut out the core support and pay the $600 to have it put on and straightened, instead of trying to hack together 2 different cars..

i already have a shell on the way. it is besicaly just a shell, but i have an entire car of interior parts and an engine that can go in it.

i would like a different engine, but i dont think that is realistic.

I think it'll be fun. For those that are willing will all build a car together. It'll be our version of Pimp My Ride. I wanted to do this months ago. Find a young enthusiast who could use our help and then pimp his shit through donations. I didn't know how to find the youngster that deserved this but I think we can all agree that we could deal with not seeing that atrocity anymore.

So, mike your game. Your end of the deal is this. You have to put the car together. you have to take pictures and update us on the progress. You need to assess what you have and what you need. Make lists of what you need. These lists will grow and change as the build goes on : What I need, this list will probably start with a roller of the year you wanna build:diving board car or plastics Etc. A list of what you could use a decent set of control arms, shift boot, Etc. Dream list:your old springs, your old urethane bushings, Labor lists: Help me put my motor in, Help me do some body work, Polish my head Etc.

I'll put together a new thread and post it in the next week, so get your lists at least started.

Let me know your game and it's on.

This is what I'm talking about. I say we quit wasting our time scaring girls away and do something useful with our time. I say we start project Junkyard, it will beat the shit out of budget beater. If you have something laying around that Mike could use and you don't need it send it to him. Why not help one youngster with a dream put together a sweet ride? I think it'll be cool, we send him our junk and we get photo's of what he's doing with it. On top of that we wont have to look at any more shot's of his mutant E30. Old Springs, interior parts, whatever...why not, what are you gonna miss out on getting low balled on something that could sell for twenty dollars?

Mike if your not into this Idea let me know and I'll delete this post. You seem like a hard working kid with a passion for e30's. I'm sure you could get this done yourself but I think this would be a cool way for those that wanted to all pitch in on the build of one car.

I'm glad your thinking clearly. Your gonna bust your ass trying to accomplish something thats not worth the time even if you could do it. Start with a good foundation and go from there. If you're 50 dollar car is beat just look at it as the catalyst that started your passion, leave it behind, grab the good parts and go from there.

See, right there, here's a community member that's willing to help you. No skin off his back, he would have to tow that car away. Why fix junk when you can fix something solid.

A while back I thought about doing an r3v community build contest. basically it was some kid, no offense, 16-20 would be picked for the community to build his dream car. We'd post a thread where 16-20's would explain why they liked there car then the best story gets everyone pitching in what they can to fix it up (Similar to pimpin) I say we do that for you, just so we don't have to see that wreck anymore.

Make a list of parts that you need 1. a roller 2.Holset turbo and who knows maybe peeps cleaning out their garage will donate something and will all build a car together. could work? At least we can get you a straight roller from some guy that parted a car and was just going to push it to the crusher.

I dig it. I was a grease monkey just like you growing up. From the time I was a kid I took apart everything. my garage was fix your bike central. While the other kids were plaing football I was alone in my garage re-building my three wheeler/go carts/scooters/cars/etc. I spent many weekends skipping parties when I was 18 and up to hang with my buddy and tinker with our cars. I see where your coming from but that welding idea is a bad route. Maybe you can pull it off but why? More than likely it will be slightly off and the car will never ride right. If it was a classic I could see doing it. Dude get a car together but come up with a realistic plan and get it done. In AZ you should be able to find a good shell with nice paint for free. Drop your IS motor into it and spend the time working instead of trying to figure out a structural welding nightmare and use that money for suspension. You'll be much happier. Trust me. Start with a straight solid frame and dream from there.

If your creative enough to cut two cars in half then weld one back together you have to be creative enough to get a big hammer, a tree, rope, and get your car straight enough to fit some body parts to fit.

i wish it was that easy, or even possible.

the damage incurred to the frame is bad. would take a long long time. plus i have already done an engine swap and all that good stuff. i know what to look for.
