why don't you pull your head out of your ass and buy a clean shell???????? you are being sooo stupid doing that shit! Do you really think your frame is going to be the same strength?? I have an analogy for you! You are like a bull who is trying to open an iron gate! Keep in mind.. this is just what I think to myself ;)
      Either way, go for it....
yes, i already mentioned that i will be purchasing another straight e30 after my 02 SE-R sells. so i will have another E30. and i will want another one. and if i have two junkers, why not combine it to make one junker?

i will be doing this too, but i want that something special that a dd "oh this car is tight, and looks good and i try my damndest to keep perfect and park 40 spots away from everyone else" just cant offer.

i want to hit the dirt sometimes and not have to worry about getting dirt or scratches on the car.

Here's a question for you Mikey? What do you do? I mean, do you have a job, go to school, jack off all day...?
What I'm getting at here is that there are many other things you should be doing besides trying to build this car.
It's not just about the cost to put those cars together, it's about the "opportunity cost". If you add up all the hours that you are going to put into putting that front end on your car, and multiply that by whatever you make per hour, you will quickly see that it makes more sence to go to work for a couple weeks and buy another clean car than it does to sit at home with a welder trying to get this car together.
Of course if you have no job to go to or anything else important to do and would otherwise be sitting at home jacking off, then by all means, go ahead and bust out the torch...

wouldnt it be easier to put all that effort into straightening yer frame then? it would be 10x less work that tryn to weld 2 e30's together, and FYI, if u have the late model front valence, thats all you really need (+plastics bumper shocks) to go plastics...the body/mounts and shit are the same.

i go to school from 7:30 to 12, then i work from 12:30 to 12 at night. everyday. i know the importance of time.

and i could easily afford just about any e30 i want, if i was really looking to zap my savings, (which is just about gone because of my house).

thats not what this build is about. its about committing to something, and sticking to it, and in the end having something that no one else does. thats what doing this would really reward me with.

So, your schedule is completely full from 7:30am until midnight every day. When are you planning on completing this project? on the weekends?
I see that's it's not about the money so I guess if this is what makes you happy, then go ahead.

If your creative enough to cut two cars in half then weld one back together you have to be creative enough to get a big hammer, a tree, rope, and get your car straight enough to fit some body parts to fit.

Pretty much. if i feel like leaving early i will leave at about 10.

and the weekends is when it will get done. i am pretty handy, so i can chop the whole front end off of both cars in about 8 hours. pulling the engine and reinstalling it would be a bitch, but i have friends that love working on cars, and a dad who wants away from his wife, so he will use this as an excuse to get out of the house.

i wish it was that easy, or even possible.

the damage incurred to the frame is bad. would take a long long time. plus i have already done an engine swap and all that good stuff. i know what to look for.

Dude I'm with these guys. I dig your enthusiam but it's just not worth that kind of time. If your $50 dollar car is so whacked out of shape that slapping fenders on it is impossible and it can't be straightened. Give it up. I was just talking to you on another thread and you made it seem like all you needed was a few parts. But if it's so drastic that the only way to fix it is welding a new front end on. Dude that is not worth it. You'll never get that thing straight and if you could your gonna waste your life doing it. I understand your desire to stick with something and accomplish it but there's a point that it's not worth it and your time would be better utilized doing something else. Find a roller with a straight frame and go from there. TRUST me, your just gonna get pissed off trying to make a 50 dollar car into a 5 dollar car.

A few pieces would make it possible to put the front end on, but i wanna hit the next level.

maybe a rolling shell will be easier.

                              Dude

I dig it. I was a grease monkey just like you growing up. From the time I was a kid I took apart everything. my garage was fix your bike central. While the other kids were plaing football I was alone in my garage re-building my three wheeler/go carts/scooters/cars/etc. I spent many weekends skipping parties when I was 18 and up to hang with my buddy and tinker with our cars. I see where your coming from but that welding idea is a bad route. Maybe you can pull it off but why? More than likely it will be slightly off and the car will never ride right. If it was a classic I could see doing it. Dude get a car together but come up with a realistic plan and get it done. In AZ you should be able to find a good shell with nice paint for free. Drop your IS motor into it and spend the time working instead of trying to figure out a structural welding nightmare and use that money for suspension. You'll be much happier. Trust me. Start with a straight solid frame and dream from there.
