I want to get one really bad. A family member has a v1 and I love it but I dont have $400. What other options do I have? Are Passport 8500's decent. They are only about $230 on ebay. What do you think?

i have a passport8500 and its never let me down. you can't really ask for more protection from the detector itself cause so much has to do with traffic, infrastructure, and mounting. but the passport has alot of good programable features that the v1 doesnt have, the range is just as good, and its very easy to use and learn

I've had my V1 since June last year. I plan on having it until it breaks. Then I'll buy a new one.
It's never let me down, and I feel naked when driving without it. I don't regret spending the $400, seeing as how it's probably saved me from getting atleast that amount if not double in speeding tickets.

Not I. Which is why I'm buying a V1.
You might be amazed Rob, as that really is a BIG argument over on the E46 forums. "But the V1 is just so big and bulky and tacky looking"
