I am going with a staggered look 17x7.5 up front and 17x8.5 in the rear. I am going to run 215/40/17 tires all around
That wont look staggered, that will look retarded. 215 fits properly on a 7in wheel. it will be stretched on a 8.5.
There is no point at all in running staggered wheels with the same size tires all around. Infact... that is just stupid.
hehe, I knew I was going to get some shit for saying that.....my car is a 90, so i have the lower arches in the rear. I think the 8.5 will have some clearance issues to begin with so I don't want to get a super wide tire back there. Plus, I looked around and if I want to get a 215/40 and say a 225/40 I would have to get 2 different brand tires because no one sells both.....I think. This guy has my wheels with the same tire fitment 215/40 all around......i think it looks fine.
So if a 215 is the widest that you can mount on a 7 inch wide rim, how can they be mounted on a 15x7 Kosei K1 with 225/50 R15's? Might be a dumb question but thought I would ask.

225/50-15 has a "measured rim width" of 7". What that means, is that is what the tire manufacturers design the tire to be fitted on, as a starting point. I say as a starting point, because it is also an acceptable fitment, in general, on 6"-8" rims.
Perhaps I didn't understand your question, or I just inadvertently answered it, but a 215 width is not the "widest" that you can fit.
