Bringing the bimmer back from Cali; what to bring in the carry-on.

I just picked up a 325e w/ 100k on the clock and a bunch of records from Cali (belts have been changed recently, recent BMW service, car is in good shape). The trip back is my spring break (CA to Pittsburgh). I was planning on taking:

set of metric sockets
torx sockets
allen sockets
voltmeter
electrical tape
hose clamps
zip ties
fuses
wire cutters
breaker bar
duct tape
hoses repair kit
flashlight/headlamp
Bentley manual (Haynes manual)
winter wear
jack stands
CB radio
GPS
sleeping bag

And buying in Cali (cannot bring on plane):

Fix a flat
carb cleaner
Red RTV
water
Red Bull
WD40
Coolant/water (5 gallons)
tire repair kit
compressor
epoxy putty
hookers


Any opinions? Tried search, but just got general ideas and "good lucks" for long trips. I've done the trip 4 times before (2 roundtrips) and will have a buddy going with me.

Holy crap that is a long drive to get a car. Your about 2hours above me. But i went to Mich. to get a car so i can't really talk much. I was going to say take a map but you allready did this trip before. Take a camera cause you'll never know what you'll see.

I just saw that you are flying out/driving back. I would suggest getting a cheap jack/jack stands and a piece of carpet or something. Maybe even a small drain pan if you need to drain some fluids, i dunno. Flashlight is always a good one to have! Fortunately all of my cross-country trips have been uneventful(knock on wood) but it always makes me feel better knowing that if something happens I'll be Okay. You might also want to pick up a quart of oil and double check the spare before you take off.

Hookers, duct tape, and jack stands noted. I'm considering driving it down to LA (Avus Autosport) and having my old mechanic check it out before the long journey.

I was on BFc for a long time... just recently got around to registering on R3V.

if you are planning on replacing the coolant hoses get them early and take them with you. I did a 7 hour trip but it was with a car i didnt trust and i had an alternater with belt, most coolant hoses, duct tape, zip ties, decent amount of tools, one jack stand, three feet of gas line, some electrical doodads. I felt safe even if it was only a 7 hour trip. I didnt use anything and i drove at night with no flashlight so good thing i made it. Make sure you bring a flashlight and have AAA.

I've got a AAA card. If I encounter any major mechanical difficulties, my plan is to have it towed to the nearest city, and fly away. (And sell it to someone on the forum.) Taking the southern route, I think the first stop will be Gold Strike Casino outside of Las Vegas.
