If your serious about performance, taking out any weight from anywhere is better than not.

If your worried about noise, there are much lighter ways to control noise, like dynamat. That shit is expensive though.

I was amazed at the weight of the tar though. I really didnt have an appreciation for what I was removing until I had it all out and carried it out to the trash.

still in there. my car is an m20 chassis with an m42, if you know why then cool, if not dont ask why i swapped an m42 in place of an m20.

i left it for the balance, the m42 can oversteer a bit depending on the set up of the car. so by leaving that extra bit in i have better balance and a better feel. in all honesty the car feels more stable with an extra 50lbs in the trunk, that is 50lbs + the trunk tar.

Well I eventually plan to ditch the cast iron exhaust manifold, power steering and A/C so itll all balance in the end.

mine's one of those ones that never came w/ it. between it and my dad's old e30 before he got rid of it, wasn't that noticable of a difference.

Cabrio so I leave it in, Kinda doesn't really apply. The Eta Sport I might finish up and get the 3.0l installed in shortly.

I never see the point in removing what is really not that much weight on a street car. Keep the daily driver stuff in there if it only sees the autox or track duty a couple times a year. You are not going to notice that much of a difference just by taking out trunk tar, if at all.
