Or even worse- The comment where Bush said to the other nations of the world on 9/11- "You are either with us or you are with the terrorists."

Its one thing to feel a certain way about the state of domestic and world affairs, however its terrible to polarize your mindset of society to the point where you determine that whoever does not share your viewpoint automatically falls into the category of being your enemy.

While I have always had misgivings about the war in Iraq (Afghanistan, not so much), I wholeheartedly support all of our brave men and women in uniform. There is no way any of us can thank them enough for the job they have volunteered to do - regardless of policy in the Beltway.

I can't even begin to express my gratitude for all the people who serve in the Gulf and elsewhere to protect myself and my friends and family. I don't care if they're democrats or republicans or wiccans. THANK YOU.

However, anyone who thinks we can "win" this "war" is delusional. All this shit about us fighting "them" over there so we don't have to fight them over here is bullshit. We are in the middle of what can only be described as a sectarian Civil war. These factions absolutely HATE each other and will stop at nothing until the other is wiped out. Add that to the fact that we (the USA) is seen as the Great Satan within the Muslim world, and it's a no-win situation for us.

What do you think the proposed surge would accomplish Trent? I'm all for supporting our troops, but all this surge would do would provide more human targets.

This is my last post about this- it makes me want to start burying busses and stocking up on ammunition, bottled water and canned food.

Good luck and stay safe! I served during Desert Storm with the 3rd MAW. Lots of dust and bugs, but on a whole I found the people to be friendly, even curious of Americans and the American culture. There were also some assholes who hated you just because you were an American, but those were the minority.

Wrong. I don't watch CNN. And I used to listen to Rush alot, several years ago, until he got to the point where I just could not listen anymore. He's become a pompous holier-than-thou idiot.

And I DO listen to the troops who have actually been there, but I have not heard many who can honestly say that things are just peachy.
