perhaps folks had different expectations. but when it comes down to it, a DOHC 4 pot is going to sound like a................................. DOHC 4 pot. no exhaust will make it sound like anything else.

    I personally like how i4s sound. I love i6s, and F6s especially....

It's not just you. At a stand still it sounds way too raspy ricy for me. Doesn't sounds as bad moving, but just the same... not my bag.

It is a cheaper option. I just bought a magnaflow muffler #14815. Brand new, full stainless steel, for $120 shipped.

              Bmwwannabe,

no stills yet. Perhaps in a few days.

              Overall cost:
              Mufler $56
              Install (parts and labor) $200

Obviuosly there are less expensive ways to go - re-use stock center section but cut off OEM muffler. I made the mistake of ditching my OEM muffler system after I got pissed off for the hassle it gave me removing it. Should have kept it.

Right now the tip is a piece of 2.25" tube. Will look to replace i with a more attractive tip in due time.

As far as loudness is concerned, its not that bad. I dont mind the sound level as I like to feel and hear my cars, especially when Im on track. The music I listen to, is mostly the sounds my car makes.

Rob's right about 4 bangers. They will always have a distinct 4 banger sound. Like with anything, some like it and some dont. Heck I too love the sound a straight six makes, especially a s52 with dual magnaflows.

I will add that in my opinion it my car sound better than some of modified imports with their coffee can exhausts Ive heard around town.

Going to custom cat back exhaust system is much less expensive than buying a premade system. Probably by half. If its a bolt together job like mine, then you have the luxury of trying different mufflers. Cant beat that flexibility.

              Low Level
Why offset? The stock sytem was center in offset out. The SS was offset in and offset out. The offset is there for better exhaust tube routing and suspension component clearance.
