I'm interested in buying a 1990 BMW 325i 2D and I am looking at one that is in excellent condition with 131,000 miles on it. It has an alarm system and heated seats. The owners have garaged it, had it professionally maintained it, and have all the records. I'm pretty sure there has been only one owner. The question I have is that they are asking $5200 for it and I was wondering how much you guys think it's worth? Also, do you guys know how long these cars usually last if taken care of?

you want to pay the $80 and take it to a reputable BMW mechanic or dealership to have it fully inspected prior to your purchase.
Make sure they make note of when the last timing belt was done.
Also, that price is at least $1k too high.
Lastly, welcome to R3V, and please don't double-post again. My mountains are better than yours.Comment

dont worry about the shocks since u KNOW you gotta lower it right? :P but still, you could be like, "yo dood the shocks are toast! deduct that from the price!" hehe. if the body is straight, that price sounds good. i just paid 5K for mine, and i just did the full engine service and suspension parts and ball joints n stuff anyways. get an LSD also and some sport seats and you'll be pimpin.

Dude, even if you do the stuff later, you still need to say they're toast. Cause, if they NEED to be replaced, it should be deducted from the price. 8)Originally posted by clavinZEROdont worry about the shocks since u KNOW you gotta lower it right? :P but still, you could be like, "yo dood the shocks are toast! deduct that from the price!" hehe. if the body is straight, that price sounds good. i just paid 5K for mine, and i just did the full engine service and suspension parts and ball joints n stuff anyways. get an LSD also and some sport seats and you'll be pimpin.
Changing the suspension not only helps with looks, but also helps with handling and makes an already fun car even more fun. Trust me, you'll be bit by the modding bug too... ;)Originally posted by DarkWing6I kinda like the whole stock look maybe a few mods but keep it mostly stock. I really like those black grills though.- Sean HayesComment

For example, go to the front left fender, then just push the car down. It should come back up without bouncing. It should feel somewhat solid. If you press down, and it comes up and seems to bounce, then they aren't as good as they should be.
I can't really explain it. If any other part of the car moves a lot when you press on just one corner, then the suspension definately needs help. ;)
I suggest you do what Kris said, and have it inspected. it would be worth $80 in the long run.- Sean HayesComment

I'm in Federal Way, but the car is further south like a little south of Tacoma. One other detail, I can't drive a stick and it is so I have my dad or bro do the test driving. My bro compares handling and feel etc to me cause I drive his 1991 325i AT sometimessigpicComment
