You should've asked how much it went for. I doubt it sold for $5k unless it was very cherry, but there's a sucker born every minute . . .
Anyhow, I didn't say to 'lowball.' I said to to make 'reasonable' offers. $3k is a very reasonable offer for many E30's. Go and look at several E30's and you will get a feel for the pricing. For example, you will see 2 cars in very similar condition with 1 seller asking $2500 and another asking $3500. What makes one car worth $1k more?
Nothing.
In my part of the country, most BMW's >10 years old have some issues with the clearcoat blistering and the leather cracking. If someone is asking for $thousands more than the going rate for a car, I'd expect the paint and leather to be near perfect. Maybe this $5k car was near perfect, but personally, I'd rather buy a car with a few blemishes for half the price, especially if it was to be my first car, which would probably be taking a few hits(Not a comment on anyone's driving skills, shit just happens.)
Yes, E30 owners are cheap bastards, but $5k is really pegging the E30 val-U-meter.
I agree that mods don't necessarily add to the value of a car. Buyers may not want a car with a particular mod, or they may have doubts about how well the mod was done. If it's riced out, the mods probably decrease the value for many buyers.Comment

blah blah.
Okay was that car you described when you first posted about the 1991 325i was it black?
because some kid up here in Gig Harbor just bought a black 325i with heated seats and all the goodies with i think 131k on the clock.
He is rather well lets just say shouldnt have the car as it will be in a ditch in a few weeks. :?
BTW there is this side street dealer that defintally has an E30 in the yard and its a white 325i maybe and then i saw another one just osme private seller trying to get rid of it and that was also a white 87 325iS. same street just different locations on that street. :P
Weird though how both are white anyway if you are intrested hit me a pm and i can try and get you more info on the cars and of course i can get you some prices and phone numbers for ya. its only a 12 minute drive it wont kill me too much 8)
Damn this must be a white month
. just remembered a body shop less then a mile down the road from me just fixed up a 4 door 325i auto and i beileve thats for sale between 5k-6k (80k ish miles on the clock), this one i have personally looked at it and it is not all that shabby and if you need a 5spd tranny i can cut you a realll good deal on one (i have one i need gone).
*phew takes a deep breath*

I test drove that one with 80k on it and it runs great the only problem is they are asking way too much. Originally that thought it was a 5 series so at $5500 they thought they were $3000 under dealer book selling at $5500. When I corrected her they left it at $5500 because I think they bought it thinking it was a 5 series and they paid too mcuh. It also has a lot of body damage. Probably close to a grand to get all that fixed.sigpicComment

I went and looked for the one with 80k today.
i was told it was over by the benz connection in the harbor, around the business park.
i drove around for 20 minutes looking for it and couldn't find it ANYWHERE!
where the heck is it, i'd like to go check it out.
on another note.. i went over to tacoma today to look for those two white e30's.
Super ETA told me they were by the DMV.. well i went down by the old DMV near the fred meyer, over on 19th/mildred and couldn't find anything there..
so i drove down to the DOL a few streets down, and there is some sord of Bosch Repair shop / dealer down there with a bunch of bimmers out front.. so i stopped in there and asked about a 3 series (There was a 318is out front.. ) and the guy said they do sell bimmers when they get them through, and one of the guys that works there just bought a '87 325is from the shop itself.. which i think is probably one of the ones you were talking about, perhaps not.
other than that, i couldnt' find ANY 'White' 3 series anywhere in teh area..
i did manage to see one parked outside of an auto parts store, stopped in and asked if it was for sale.. the dude was like ' well if you wanna pay me 4000 for it.. hah i paid like 2300 for it a year ago.. anythings for sale if the price is right..'
so erm.. yeah. Super ETA.. WHERE THE HELL are the cars you are talking about.Comment
