Sex offenders driving with bright green license plates.

Has anybody else heard of this? What do you think. Taking away civil rights?

Fine by me. fucking rapists and shit deserve that shit.

However, there are lesser offences that are considered sex offences that this shouldn't apply to.

i totally agree, i think that people should know about shit like that.

but also they probably wouldnt be able to limit it to only rapists, etc. they would have to bunch them all together but good idea.

Exposing yourself in public makes you a sex offender. So if you are caught taking a piss where you shouldn't (even if you aren't exposing to anyone), then you are fucked. Only a dickhead cop would do that though. But still...

I think it would be good though. When I get old and have kids I could tell them to stay the hell away from a car with bright green plates.

          Doubt it will happen though.

Why can't a sex offender just rent a car or borrow a car when he wants to go on one of his exploits? Secondly what if someone needs to borrow his car? Then they get labeled as a sex offender too?

The only reason why I would be against this is that in our society we have a NIMBY policy (not in my back yard) where we would not want sex offenders to live around us. Being able to easily label and identify them would only make this mindset more prevelant.

You should tell your kids to stay away from strangers and their cars PERIOD! I think that we mistakenly concern ourselves with those who are labeled as offenders and we do not take the necessary precautions to protect ourselves from those who we DON'T know who are offenders. Plus the term "sex offender" is so broad that there are many people who are registered on the internet who give us no reason to be concerned..

Like if a woman sleeps with her boss for a job promotion and then finds out that she is not getting the promotion, she will claim "sexual harassment" against him and then he will be labeled as a sexual offender.

When a sexual offender gets caught, punished, and he does his time, he should be allowed to re-assimilate back into society without the stigma and indefinate punishment that goes along with it.

If he is caught driving in another car that doesn't have the green license plates, he will be put in jail for 10 years.

You should tell your kids to stay away from strangers? That's a given, but many sex offenders are very good at what's called manipulation and lying to get their way. They can be whoever they want and a 9yr old girl will believe them. That's the way it is. The young kids are naiive and easily manipulated. Telling kids to stay away from strangers is not only ineffective, but it doesn't hit home to kids; they can't relate. "why stay away from strangers?". I believe that if they do make teh license plates green, at least the parents can tell them to stay away from the cars with green license plates. At least it's a color that the kids can relate to, not just a fact. If the kids are in a residential park or playing outside, it's a great way for the kids to be informed that that is a bad man and stay away from him instead of just saying, stay away from strangers.

I do agree with he should not be affected by the stigma of the "sex offender" even if he does his deserved time. Unfortunately, It sux though that in our society, one is always labeled with the sex offender. Many if not most sex offenders are repeat offenders, so that says something about the mindset/personality of such people. They can't control it, it's within them. That urge that keeps them going and making excuses that it's okay to do. I know it's easy to say, but if they didn't want that permanent stigma that goes along with sex-offenders, then they should have thought about that before hand or got psychiatric help.

No one would ever think but...
In my opinion, isn't it the unregestered sex offenders that we should be worried about?

Exactly my point- Granted you put color labels on someone and tell your kids that anyone with this particular color on their car is bad but it also gives them a false sense of security where they will think that anyone who does NOT have the green tag must be someoneone good. So kids need to be able to have their defenses up for ALL situations. Not just for the guys who get labeled as being bad. Would you like for your kid to be the first one that the offender gets as he builds his resume? Or would you rather prepare your kid for the undiscovered offenders?

If they get green plates they should get wholesale prices on tires and windows as those will get slashed and bashed often.

I think there are better ways about doing this. Can they only offend in there car? Seriously, this is just going to single people out so peolpe can trash their stuff. These people are messed up, but there are better ways about going about this. It almost seems like a very childish, poorly thought out idea.

I DO think there should be harsh consequences, INCLUDING public ridicule.
I mean, what better deterrent than sheer fear?

I vote for visible, distinctive tattoo's.

... or torture. Publicly, of course.

remember that kid who vandalized the car in singapore a few years back and got the cane? I bet you anything he never did that shit again.

I believe this is well intentioned. But unrealistic, granted ill be the first to say that if i ever come into contact with a sex offender bragging of his exploits. i would do my best to beat the shit out of him. that said, i see this as a slippery slope, many sex offenders are trying to pursue a life of recovery, not all but many see there actions as wrong, the real issue as i see it is unregistered sex offenders, they are what we need to worry about, i have a friend who was 19 and was peeing behind a wal-mart, and he is now registered in Missouri as a sex offender, funny shit i know but you see what im saying? public records on these guys should speak enough, not bumper stickers or plates. maybe im being overly empathetic, but this is how is see things...

i dont believe someone is a registered sex offender for peeing behind the walmart unless he was peeing in the mouth of a 6 yr old boy.
something else is going on there. perhaps in his past or perhaps you dont know the full story
