666, rallyx, wheels = fun weekend

Had a good weekend with my car, figured I'd share.
    Here's how she started out:

Then, with half an hour of boredom, some electrical tape, and a complete disregard for the "right" way to do things, this happened.

I just couldn't stand that chrome strip any more.

Since I was going rallycrossing this Sunday, I knew I'd need extra protection. Plus I'm lowered ~1.5 inches, so I installed the 666 skidplate, with rivets, for her pleasure.

By the end of the rallycross, this is what it looked like:

Note that the ripped part is the plastic undercarriage cover, not the skidplate. With all the abuse my undercarriage took today, that skidplate was a lifesaver. It got quite a few nice scratches.

    Here's some rallycross shots:

    Here I am:

    Subaru's run this bitch

It was a blast. I was picking up pieces of brand new pieces of STis all day. Some of those drivers are batshit fast/insane. The course was really muddy at the beginning of the day, but it got drier as the day heated up.

And even with all that going on, I still had time to put run my new Potenza SO3 pole positions and some old rims I had down to get mounted.

I put them on after the rallycross. They'll be good for the autocross... which is next weekend. The party just never stops.

Excuse the MS paint tinted window. My GF was in the car when I took the shot and she says she didn't like the face she was making, so I was to "photoshop her out".

Sorry for all the edits. I accidently hit "submit" instead of "preview post".

All in all it was a super productive/fun weekend. And I've proved that you can rallycross in a lowered car with a little preparation.

No. Electrical tape shadowline only works if you're not paying attention and you're at least 5 feet away.

Seriously, I could have done it well and you probably wouldn't have been able to tell even from a few feet away, but I started out thinking, "let's see how this looks", did one side very quickly just for my amusement, decided it would look OK but I didn't have the time to do it right, got in the car to drive somewhere, realized I couldn't drive the car around with one side shadowlined and one side not, convinced myself that the ghetto shadowline looked better than the stock chrome, and then quickly did the other side.

Really you'd never notice that it's taped if you weren't paying attention, but if I told you it was you could definately tell. Who cares, the car isn't that pretty anyway.

Someone should take one for the team and put the 666 fabrications skid plate to the "test" to see how they hold up.

haha, i had e-tape shadow line for a while, it started to peel off after about 2 months, so i ended up painting it while it was still on the car, probably took me just as long to mask off the car as it would have to take the trim off...

Electrical tape certainly will not stand up to much exposure to the sun and elements.

But man, that rallycrossing looks fun as hell. I would never have done that with my E30 or my E36 but it looks like ridiculous amounts of fun.
