Possible parts car? - Got it!

    Ok, there's a 1988 325is for sale, locally.

    Pics here: http://e30.electrontek.com/partscar/

Same color as my car. Hell, the body might possibly have better paint than my car, and fewer dents. (it's just REALLY dirty)

He has no idea when the timing belt was done, it needs new pads, and new shocks, BAD.

He really has no idea what kind of car he has, so I'm thinkin of offering about $500 less than he's askin (maybe more...for the timing belt of course...heheh :P ).

Then i would steal teh interior, hood, rear view mirror, and a ton of other things (I head as well, 2.7 stroker time!)

I'm just wondering if you guys think it's worth it. There would still be a lot of parts laying around, and a DAMN NICE shell to work from.

Think I could recoupe at least $1400 from the car by parting it out, minus interior and a few other small things?

And, with that, anyone wanna call dibs for anything? 8) (if I do this, kris already called tail lights and head lights and ryan's (super eta) interested in the shell)

I'm really wanting to do this!!

One other thing, the engine is a HUGE mess too. i went back after he left to get the pics, so, just take my word for it.. :)

    EDIT

    I GOT IT!

    YAHOO!

Ok, I know if looks pretty close to being mint, but it is NOT. The engine is a MESS. The timing belts needs to be right now, shocks are worse than any car I have ever driven, and the brakes need new pads.

My solution? Put everything from the IS into my car, while creating my stroker at the same time.

Also, something I just noticed - below the passeneger side door (where the undercoating goes) there's is a nasty dent about 2 feet long. All the more reason to do what I've been wanting to do. ;)

I started a thread here for those that may be interested in parts ( http://www.r3vlimited.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6350 )

you do know you can pop the hood from the outside of the car.

Speaking wich then you can get in there with some tools and "borrow" the i head and stuff you would need for a 2.7. ;)

Well if Kris wants the headlights and Tail lights i can always snatch those somewhere else. :D

I think its a good deal. Go for it

          Hmmm...

Well, after a day of hangin with the family, I drove back there and its still there. My guess is, since he has no ad, and its been sittin there for only a day (I drive past that spot every day), no one knows about it yet.

Ryan, I'd include more, but the car would cost more. :P

I feel like I can make a lot off the car by getting out of it what I want, then parting what's left.

Like I said above, the owner has no idea when the timing belt was done, so It's probably safe to say that it's either time to get a new belt on there, or part the baby out.

If I popped it, Ryan, it would just be to take pictures.

Ryan, you can't drive without tail lights either.. :?

              QUESTION:

I was going to use the clutch from this 325is, and put it into my 325 (with the Super Eta bottom end).

However, now my question is - would these work with one another?? If they don't, this might not happen. :x

Can someone tell em this, asap??

why would you part that car out? there's nothing seriously wrong with the chassis or interior from what I can see. all it needs is a good paint job and probably maintanence. it's a late model car, so the diving boards would be easy to get rid of.. hell the paint isn't even that bad! it's probably just dirty.

maybe I'm just crazy, but parting out a perfectly straight car seems sacrilegious. it's not like there are millions of 325is's around! Cars that are totally trashed or have been in bad wrecks are parts car territory..

Cause I want to make a stroker, need an interior, and it's got all the little things I've been wanting in my car. (it also has a fairly nice stock exhaust I can use until I can afford a brand new one, and HOPEFLLY the clutch will fit my super eta, that way I can use it instead of spending $400+ on a new one (the one in the car I believe has less than 30,000 miles on it.))

I know some may not agree, and some may look down upon it, but this car needs a good 1 grand put into it before it's really all that nice anyway (shocks, brakes, and timing belt). I've thought of using the IS as my base, but I want to keep my 325 as the base, since the super eta block is already in, and I don't have the resources to remove an engine yet.

Again, I know some may not agree, but I don't know where else I'll find a 100% complete interior, and every single piece I'd need to turn my car into an IS, and at the same time, getting a 2.7i stroker.

BTW, the paint is NOT bad at all, which is why it would make an awesome shell for someone. The paint is actually really nice, it's just really dirty and is in dire need of a wash and wax.

If you can bargain him down to a price that you are happy with, I'd definately say go for it. Looks to be quite good (especially if you're using it for parts).

Yes and no - I only have 2. One of which will be parted up and turned into one. I know, it seems redundant (just imagine what our neighbors think... )

                            I'm also in debt... :x

                            But, it's worth it.

Red car is now deemed the teenager car I guess, an Eta is good for that. It'll remain my daily driver until I get my car up and running (hopefulyl soon)

I've had one experience with clutch stuff from a 90 325iS in a '88 2.7i stroker. This was on e9nine's old supereta.

First he had a shop do the 2.7i swap and had them put the single mass flywheel with all new everything else. Couple months later, the pressure plate blew. Put a new one in, and it blew again. So then in my garage, we went to replace the clutch (again). Upon taking it out, we saw the pressure plate was FUCKED. Two of the three attachment points for the friction surface were finished. To this day, we have no idea what caused this to happen. So we put the dual mass flywheel back in (with appropriate clutch disc, pressure plate, etc.). The starter (and inside of the bellhousing) had taken quiet a beating but that could've been from the broken attachment points spinning around. It's run perfect since.

EDIT: Actually...an '88 i will have a dual mass flywheel, right?
