Typically many retail establishments will not permit you to get an employee discount until 90 days of working there (if not longer) because people have been known to abuse this privilage. I have a cousin who would get jobs at different places and work there only a day or two just so that he can go shopping for everything that he was planning on buying. And so I am sure that your manager probably said what he did because it almost appeared as if you took the job for the discounted parts and not because you really wanted to work there. Benefit abuse is a big problem in corporate america because employers often don't reap the benefits of their investment. I've known people to work for the cable company long enough to get free 5-year subscription and then quit soon after because it was the free cable TV that they were interested in.

ill bet its not nearly as bad as time theft from posting on the internet.
i would love to have 1/10 of 1% of the revenue wasted on the internet by employees when they should be working.

ahh nice job man, buy as many parts as you can with that discount before you move on to another job! I like the discount too, i really save alot. Simple parts usually have biggest discounts, such as windsheild lockstrips) retails 40 bucks i got it for 10!!! it really improved the look of my car too. Become friends with some mechanics and they will work on your car for you!

              hook it up homie! :)
i work at the ford dealership on broad so i cant really take advantage of the employee discount. Although i do detail my car every two weeks or so for free since i work in the detail department.

It might be a valid point if you couldn't buy the pads and headlight cheaper from any number of other places.
I worked in corporate America when they actually had benefits. The rules are subject to change at any given moment. The odds you draw a pension from where you now work are 9 to1.
Any body have one of them "gold-plated health insurance policies" George W. talks about.

Sad to think most of those people wasting time on the internet could not figure out that your 1/10th of 1% is the same as .1%. :D

My good buddy is a mechanic and has his own shop. I get awesome discounts at WorldPac and the dealer. i cant believe the price differences from online and at the dealer, because i know they would rape me if i just walked in on the counter.

That was very rude from the manager. Then your reply should have been to ask what the rules are. If the rules allow to buy at discount, then the manager has goofed and should have apologized. If the rules do not allow, then he has also goofed as he did not tell you beforehand what rules allow. His fault, in both cases.
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.
