Thank those exhaust bearings are interchangeable on all e30s. I have had to do this two or three times now and going to the junk yard rather than the dealership has saved me a fortune.

If you can remove those exhaust bearings from the "impostor M3s" I'm sure you'll be able to sell them in the "For Sale" section of this website for a pretty decent price. They're pretty indestructible and therefore they probably didn't get damaged in the crash.

I had a cracked windshield and after trying 3 different ones from the junkyard, none of them would fit. I ended up having to special order it from the dealer and it took 6 weeks. Had I known that the exhaust bearings were interchangeable, I would not have spent $180 at the dealership. But we live and learn..

        Again? Really?
It's funny, when I first bought my e30 I didn't know what an m3 motor looked like. I also didn't notice the roof line. Of course I learned all that stuff as I worked on my car, but I was never called out for asking a question......

Just b/c you guys happen to be "the largest e30 online community" doesn't mean you have to dick on someone who knows less. You keep doing shit like that you can kiss that title goobye.

Actually I have been working on cars since I was 6. But you are right- if we keep ragging on those who know less, then we eventually hurt ourselves because we rob ourselves of the opportunity to get a fresh perspective and new insight from someone else. Someone once taught me about computers when I knew nothing about them. Now I can share with him some of the things that I have learned on my own which helps him.

HOWEVER, in an age where we have access to ANY and ALL information that we need by simply using a good search engine, people still unnecessarily ask stupid questions.

if you think it is a stupid question, don't answer, simple.

what may be minor to more "seasoned" trollers...err....e30 fans may be a big deal to noobs.

That M3 has really nice exhaust bearings, you can see it in that picture very well. That person must have spent a FORTUNE on those! Are those the Unobtanium Racing Bearings from TMS or are those IE's new Semiobtanium Street/Track bearings?

Man, I hate it when I find something badged wrong at the salvage yard. For example, I was gonna pull an "i" intake from this iX.

I take a look at the front struts, and I notice, hey wait a minute, there are no halfshafts leading to the hubs. I pop the hood, and I see the emaciated runners of an eta motor. Well, come to find out, it's a 1985e.

EDIT: oh yeah, the bumpers were smashed and the front valance was gone, so from a distance it could have been an 88iX.

i wish i could all quote you guys! (except those dicks from yesterday:finger:) i have also worked on cars for a long time as well, but mostly on japaniese cars. My E30 and Land Rover Range Rover we got are the first european cars we have owned. dont worry soon ill have the knowledge of those douches, but will respect anyone with the most stupidest question to a certain point. now, back to basics, whats a exhaust bearing? does the front valence come attached with the bumper?

exhaust bearings are the same thing as turn signal fluid. I'm guessing that your convertable still has the big aluminum bumpers. The bumper it self is not attached to the valance but the plastc trim is if i recall. but you will have to remove the bumper to take the valance off.

yup aluminum bumps. i was there today to get some prices, the guy told me that the front valence is rare and it would be 120 for it with the fog lights, but its missing the black trim at the very bottom of the valence and its got a small bent to it. and the fenders, good cond. for a 100 each. are those prices fair?

The valance has fog lights? It must be a 88 "is" valance or a euro valance. I don't know if $120 for a valance and fog lights is good or not and the 100 per fender seems to be a little high to me.
