      16.5 gallons :)

I never top off when I fill up and usually put in about 14.5, and I don't refill until the light comes on.

I count miles and divide by how many gallons I used. Unless your OBC is extremely accurate (and it's not), you're only going to be in the ballpark range for gas milage. And if you have different than stock fuel pressure or injector flow rates, your OBC is going to be way off.

Total miles on trip odometer / gallons added to tank

You're aware that you can change your OBC to read in english units (ie miles), right?

if you're getting 8mpg with an M20, something is seriously wrong with your engine, or you drive around in 2nd gear on the freeway...
How big is your fuel tank? When I fill up I put between 10-11 gallons in.
Tanks in the 87 and earlier are only 12.5 gallon tanks I believe.

            Yours may even be smaller.

heheh my fuel gauge is awsome. It bounces around like a cat on crack, i never know exactly how much fuel i have left. Sometimes i have a full tank and it says its on Reserve, sometimes its almost empty and its on full. I'd replace it if i wasnt such a lazy bastard.

You probably have to just tighten the ground nut on the back of it. Or possibly replace your SI batteries.

When me and Jordan drove my car down from Lake Oswego, OR. to Corvallis, OR. we were getting 32 mi/gallon. But that was according to the comp.

Jesus, if i hear another American whine about gas prices...

If you whine about them, don't ever travel abroad. You'll have a heart attack and die.

You have some of the cheapest gas in the world, whacking an extra dollar onto a gallon sounds like a damned good plan to me. Maye get a few out of SUV's (doubtful)

todays trip from Roanoke VA to University of Tennessee is about 280 miles, i made the trip today on one tank and still have a little less than a 1/4 of a tank.
