Anyone want to see a REAL radar detector test?

ok, first off, k40 has NOT been around longer, Valentine radar detection has been around since the vietnam era. There are Story's (just story's mind you) of huey pilots in vietnam switching there standard issue RD's to the current valentine models normally sold to personal aircraft consumers... i doubt this is a paid off test.--- i have used a k40, And owned a valentine v3. I like the valentine :)

I find it hard to believe that you are slamming the V1 without having actually used it? Want to borrow mine for a week? :D Not like Imma get a ticket in the Land Cruiser.

I have used a few different detectors and the V1 really is amazing. Is the sensitivity REALLY that much different than the STi or the 8500? No. They are all pretty close when used in real-life situations. What sets the V1 apart from the rest of the crowd, is the fact that you can locate WHERE the radar is coming from, and how many of them there are.

The arrows saved my ass once when I was younger/dumber. I got hit with laser from behind, going WELLLLLLL over the speed limit. Knowing that I would probably get arrested if I pulled over, I stepped on it and GTF out of there. If I didnt have the arrows, I would have assumed that the officer was in front of me, and slammed on my brakes back down to 55.

I am with Luke though, I wonder why they didnt test the K40? Probably because they are hobbyists/nerds and dont have enough $ for the K40 to buy it and test it haha. I am going to go onto their forum and ask.

v1 received the POP update, wonder if that one had it? i dont speed like an asshole everyday, but its helpful for the city cops that just drive around with radar on. chippies usually require a visual confirmation, they dont radar as much as they used to.

I really like the Escorts i've used in the past. I've used a V1 twice, and I honestly find the little arrows annoying, plus its a pretty big unit. A full hidden setup would be awesome with front and back mounted sensors, and maybe get rid of the SIA lights in the cluster to mount the in-car visuals.

The arrows are the best feature of the V1. Without the arrows, I am totally lost.

The only thing I don't like about the V1 is that it is hard to distinguish which type of radar you are being hit with. Fortunately, the difference is audible, so as you use it more you can instantly recognize it. When you first have a V1 you find yourself looking which light is lit....

Ok, thats one thing to say, and its another completely different thing to say that the independent site mustve been paid off. From my experience Escorts have worked pretty well, but I really believe the v1 claims.

This is an idiotic statement. V1's have been the best out there for a long time, I doubt V1 has been paying off every radar test ever completed, including independent ones like this.

its not a statement, its my opinion. i worked for 10 years in the consumer electronics industry. ive sold against valentine quite a bit. my opinion being that there is no ONE item on the market that does EVERYTHING better than the rest. to me looking at the results makes it look like for you $300 or however much youre spending you get the super detector that nothing can touch. the results seem bias they make it look like the rest dont even function properly, the results are horrible. i dont believe that nothing else on the market compares to the V1. i sold the escort series for a couple of years, ive demoed them in cars, ive used a laser/lidar gun vs the laser shifter and it worked excellent at a very far distance (wasnt calculated but it was close to the results listed here). ive used the 8500 and solo in cars and they perform excellent. whatever, to me V1s are just another word of mouth purchase.

I would still really like to see K40 represented. I would have more faith in their testing.

They have been around far longer, and IMO, are far better.

i call bs. doesnt make any sense that just one and only one brand does EVERYTHING. i sense a little monetary bias in the findings.

It is well documented in the actual report that the Laser Interceptor was a prototype model and not an off-the-retail-shelf version like all of the others. In shorter terms, the Laser Interceptor was hand built barely in time for this test. In fact, its not even in production yet.

It is very clear that the PRODUCTION model of the Laser Interceptor will not perform as well as their hand built prototype, but people have high expectations.

Guys-of-Lidar are hobbyists and only want they best for themselves.
