e30 Sedan vs. Coupe - which would you start with?

Sedan. Because they are have the best sleeper aspect. No one expects to be schooled by a 4 door. Especially an 80's BMW.
To boot, I own a coupe (trans am) and dont need another. I would like to have a fast coupe and a fast sedan. So I went with E30 in the sedan section.
Also, the sedans have more structural rigidity.Originally posted by TeaguerFilling an Eta's tank with super unleaded will reach the cars maximum attainable performance level .
Aa a bonus filling the tank will also double any Eta's resale value .Comment

For a fun, personal, sporty car I prefer the coupe. My biggest reason is that I hate having people in my back seat. They never seem to have respect for the vehicle. 2 doors is a good excuse to keep passengers away.
I just dont like the look of E30 4-doors, for whatever reason. I have E36 and E46 sedans, and I prefer 4 doors on those.
It's just something about the coupe E30.Comment

4 door easier to load track tires in the back and trunk than squeezing them past bar and seats. PIA. Not in trailer mode yet need too.
4 door for later on welding doors for increased rigidity. Plus they are cheaper most of the time.Comment

for a moment i thought i was gonna make it through the whole thread without anyone bringing that up.
e30s are flexi-flyers, and i used to throw my coupe into corners hard enough that i'd get wind noise from the doorframe. my 'vert? don't even ask.
if i had the chance to build my current car over again, i'd absolutely start with an m42 sedan.past:

I hate how small the doors are on the sedan. I have long legs and the coupe is more comfortable.Comment

all E30s are sedans. Who do you think invented the sports sedan category? they didn't make a 3 series coupe until the E36.
but, I like the 4 door, better access to the rear seat (for parts/tools/tires, etc).Comment
