What diff ratio are you high hp boys using?

    ONLY high hp e30s please.

    Ie, turbo m20s,m30s,m50s,s50,s52,v8,sr20det,v8s etc

    What ratio?

    Final drive ratio?

    Est fly horse power?

    Thoughts on this ratio?

    RPM @ 60mph 100kph?

    Interesting thread

I'm gonna go out on a limb say that the 3.73 is not going to be ideal for your Yota engine .

More suited would be something like a 3.25 or quite possibly even a 2.93 .

4.10 with a warmed over M20 (~200hp, I'll find out next month).. at first I thought it was a little too crazy, but now I'm used to it. I kinda wish I had a 6th gear because I start to run out of breath at ~130, but I really have no need to go that fast. the 4.10 is a great street/autox gear though. 75mph is about 3500rpm.... which makes passing in 5th really easy (70-100 happens quickly). it's still very quiet and smooth.

            if I had something like an S50, I'd look for a 3.25 or 3.55

The use of the car seriously influences it. On my turbo e30, I am on a 2.93, and I've been wanting to up the ratio for quite a while.

i like it, as long as i stay under 75mph, i'll get 28mpg. It has 3.42's in it now, i think i'll get 4.11's for it soon though.

The e30.de website recommends the 3.25 with M30 conversions. The page on differential choices (translated) makes interesting reading.

NA motor = lower final drive (3.25, 3.73) more power and torque in the low end

Turbo motor = higher final drive (4.10) need to get up to boost sooner

CR gearbox - depends on setup

Why not ask BMW why they change out gearbox gearsets & final drive ratios depending on the racetrack they are at.... Long straits need more top speed, twisties need constant RPM.... it depends and no one can answer...

What is your application - maybe we can help
