thanks e30lyf. that is correct. engine won't stop even after switching ignition off. also, all my brake fluid is on the floor, not in the reservoir

need to do a complete check-up as well. planning to use it as a daily driver. just got it last night. can any of you recommend a good mechanic?

Thanks for all your reply. There is a very bad fluid leak in my car. Not sure what fluid is leaking. But I noticed this reservoir is empty. Can anybody please verify if this reservoir is for brake fluid? If yes, where can I get this fluid and what kind so that I can re-fill it in order for me to drive to the mechanic.

Thats your ATF fluid for your power steering. My E30 requires Auto trans fluid for it.

Your steering rack may be busted if that keeps draining on you after you fill it up. Fill it up (do it when the car is cold, and note that when you turn it on it will fill up about 3mm more than when cold) and see if you are leaking from the steering rack under turning. Fill according to the line though, don't just pour a ton into it.

Also, this may be a good time to look into E36 M3 steering racks for a shorter turn-to-turn ratio. Search for it.

here's a thread on adam and eddie. i haven't been there but everyone seemed to be happy with their work. they are located on northern blvd and francis lewis blvd. not sure if they are familiar with e30s.
