    Should I get an E30?

Hey everyone, I'm looking for a new (used) car and someone told me to check out E30s. I've been doing so for the past few days and am pretty much convinced that I'd like to own one. Is $3000 enough to get a decent, high mileage E30? I'm not in any type of rush, so I can wait. Thanks in advance.

If you can locate a solid one no rust (less wories) in your area, I say GO FOR IT.

Definantly be patient with the search. You should be able to find a great e30 in your area. $3000 will get you a very nice, respectable car for sure.

I'm with this guy, but i've owned 30+ cars. In the past i was against buying any foreign cars. But now that i got one i kind of wish that i had one or two of these in the past. For $3000 you should find a good e30. But watch out cause some people think that since it say's BMW on it they want a pot of gold for it.

            To add to that:
I had 2 e30's before I thought i should get out of the E30 scene, so i bought myself a brand new chevy colorado. Biggest mistake of my life. 1 year later, I sold it and bought another E30 with the money.

Find one for about $1000. No more than $1500. Then use the rest of your money for maintenence and repairs. If you find a decent car for $3000 you will still have to do work on it simply because anyone who is selling their E30 is tired of repairing it. Nobody is going to get their car in excellent condition so that they can sell it. The investment made in the car is only worth it if you plan on keeping it but because of the expense, it would be foolish to get the car into tip-top condition so that it can be sold.

I've lost a couple of jobs, been broke, hungover, hurt my knee, only got to spend 11 days in Brasil last time I went, broken up with the same girl 5 times, dog got bit by a rabid racoon, got a few tickets and alot more ever since I owned my first one.....coincidence? I don't think so.

Choose carefully however resistance may be futile :borg:

Just outta curiosity, which model Camaro. I still do for some reason like the look of red IROC-Z's. Late '80s production years

No, don't buy an E30. it's already too hard for me and my friends to find them without more people looking. if you find any really nice ones, be sure to let me know where they are and who to contact. thanks!

Look for a sub $1k car that leaks ALOT. It will be rust free ;)

You do have to know what you're looking at however, what I consider to be a beater, other people consider to be a pristine example worth $5k. I've seen cars in much worse shape in every way than my beater sell for around that price.

it was a 93 v6. it was a very good car, had i not taken my dads advice id probably still have it. ?He told me to put synthedic in it because ot would run better and blah blah blah.... it ended up knocking and rods and bearings were going to take a shit. Dealer gave me $5k for it to put down for the Lincoln LS.

the really sad thing is that although i really liked the LS (probably because of the e39 resemblance) it was in the shop MORE than my wifes 83 528e. so thats when my e30 came into play.

Yeah.. the E30 is the car you buy as cheaply as possible and then build it up to what you want it to be. You are going to spend the better part of $2000 on maintenence and repairs in the first couple of years regardless of the condition of the car. So I say why pay more when you don't have to. If the car starts easily, if it runs well, and if there are no major dents or rust, then its a fine vehicle.

There's a really nice white one in the cars for sale thread right now.

If I were you I'd buy this car
